Fuel Prices falling?

Will we see it drop to the magic £1.00/ltr?? hope so, my car being 'keen' on consuming petrol it's already much better for me at these lower prices

My heating oil is now about 20p per litre cheaper than it was this time last year, that's a saving of £200 on 1000 litres, or if I fill it right up £400.

Anyone else remember the outcry about 2 months ago when the difference between petrol and diesel reached 6p/litre?
The bad press resulted in an overnight reduction in diesel prices, bringing them within 2 - 3 of unleaded. Now the gap is bigger that ever.

According to the Welly Office of Financial Statistics I R currently saving £40.00 a month with this 'ere price reduction, enough to buy a brand-new set of Volvo Wiper Blades, oh wait.

I just paid 109.9 for diesel locally. So it should be a little cheaper at the place I usually buy it. (The Shell garage just north of M25 J21A)

Now then Class, can somebody work out the profit/loss and break-even point if Mr benczuk were to travel to a cheaper Filling Station away from home and what would be the furthest distance he could travel and still benefit financially. Please note his Tyre Pressures are 26.7PSi and this has an adverse affect on fuel economy of 1.1653%

Also show the minimum fill quantity at your chosen station for Mr benczuk to benefit financially expressed in minimum units of £1.00 only.

Lastly, Mr benczuk enjoys a Cornish Cream Tea along the seafront of an afternoon, these cost £26.99 (in Summer ) demonstrate if it is possible to 'fund' this treat using the savings illustrated above.

please also factor in that I suspect I have a dodgy injector or two, like to travel everywhere at 85 and currently average around 39MPG on a run up the A30. (35 combined)

PeterN, I don't venture to St Awfull if I can help it... Hold on... PL25 diesel varies from 112.7 (put a tank on that being ASDA) to 115.9 (http://www.petrolprices.com/search.html?search=PL25)

Here's every fill since October 2005 when I got my first 406 (blue) and the oil price (red, in dollars, not £ per barrel).

It's a bit wrong for a number of technical reasons (changes in duty, inflation, exchange rates, and the scale on the x-axis), but what it does show is the correlation in movement between oil price and diesel price.

Green is diesel price divided by oil price, and if the two moved in synch then it would be constant, i.e., a horizontal line. The clear upward movement at the end means that the diesel price hasn't come down as much as it should.

I refuse to drive more than 10 miles ( 5 miles each way ) to save 1p per litre - even if you brim the tank you will save a whopping 90p...

10 miles is about 1/4 of a gallon if you do 40mpg, even if fuel was £5 per gallon the journey to said 'cheaper' fuel emporium would be £1.25......
