Welly in Audi A3 'up my chuff' shocker

I've heard speak about these things happening out on our roads; tales of these important Audi motorcars travelling inches from the rear bumper of normal people.....

Last night I'm afraid for the first time I became the victim of such treatment and had to 'move over' in a cowardly manner. Travelling at speed on a dual carriageway and nearing the end where it filters to one lane I had my sight on a nice safe place to draw the two lanes to a close and not upset anyone else......the White Audi A3 behind me had other ideas.....he HAD to get past NO MATTER TF WHAT......lots of things went through my mind (some evil thoughts) as he inched so close behind that his headlights were no longer visible in the RV mirror (remember kids this is at over 80mph)

Thinking "this guy is a cock warbler" I gracefully eased over to the left lane where he farted past (and then filtered in like I was going to ). I sort of felt ashamed, robbed even, but felt I took control of the situation and didn't rise to his bullish fuckwittery.

What a twat though, I normally have an open mind about other peoples behavior but I was shown first-hand that this phenomenon does exist. The guy fell straight into his own stereotype and got it action-perfect.

Any others have any stories to share?

Lots. But I tend not to bore people with them as I assume that EVERYONE on the roads will have experienced this sort of behaviour at one point or another.

Audis and BMs seem to be up near the top of the "twat" rank. Strangely, VWs and Mercs seem to be driven by more sane individuals.

Plenty of experience of that particular type of situation, from both ends. Generally I'm the one getting annoyed at OAPs in the overtaking lanes, but occasionally I get the Jerry-up-the-backside treatment, despite generally going 10 over and staying out of the overtaking lane except to overtake.

I've stopped caring about it, really.

Keep right (or left in the UK) except to pass, and completely ignore the flashing headlights behind me. They'll get by soon enough when I find a safe space to pull back in from the overtaking lane, and we'll both be on our ways. Me in peace and him hopefully with a large speeding fine.

In my experience, any larger type of company car driven by SERIOUS BIZZNIZZ MEN are the worst.

I can't say it happens to me as it's a very long time since I was permitted to reach the heady heights of 80mph (what is that in forrin? 128kmh? Not for a very long time, maybe last summer on t'motorway when t'wife wasn't on board). I'm usually doing about 80 (50mph) on the old high road to and from Zagreb. Normal practice seem to be to thunder up behind me to within 3 meters, then gradually creep closer until I can't see their lights any more, then back off and shine their main beams/overpowered dips at the back of my head in the expectation that I'll catch fire or something. They may then proceed to overtake in a breathtakingly dangerous manner at the first vague sign of a clear stretch of road (I'm pretty sure the drivers here only get away with this sh*t because the roads are relatively empty, if they tried the same thing on the congested roads of the UK they wouldn't last a day) or I may have the pleasure* of them warming the back of my head all the way back to Jaska. I don't react or anything, I don't pull over because all there is is a ditch, nor do I slow down or speed up unless the road dictates that I should do so, why should I make their lives/deaths any easier?

Btw you can substitute "anything German" for "Audi A3" for the crappy Croatian drivers around here.

I think I managed to annoy an Audi A3 that was refusing to even try to get past a parked bus this morning. No traffic in other direction, it's held up by traffic lights at a roadworks further along the road so I passed it and the bus. Turned out afterwards that said A3 belongs to/was being driven by someone on my road, so that is another neighbor that wont be sending me a Christmas card next year.. does that count?

Love the way some people firmly believe they're right even when they couldn't be more wronger. Locally this involves either a total inability to read road markings and signs or an unshakable belief that they know better. Actually I've been giving this some thought recently and have concluded that it's neither of those things, it's not even ignorance, it's selfishness. "I'm going to do whatever the f*ck I want, why? Because f*ck you, that's why!"

You're right Dai, I think the same, it's "f*ck you I am far superior" all the way.......worsened when you drive an older motor too.

I remember one time in a kinda 'Give Way as best you can' piece of road near me with parked cars down one side; I was the last car coming through when a young Girl had already committed to driving straight through towards me.....she then started yelling and waving her arms at me ("w**ker" it looked like she said) I found that really sad, I mean I've always been able to think that I'm generally a nice bloke but she took exception because I slightly inconvenienced her in her BMW 1-series (in White).

I worked with a smashing bloke years ago who was a late-learner (driving wise) so drove very carefully, and very well actually, he was quite wealthy and one day found himself in a bit of a stand off with another driver over something silly.......further down the road my friend DELIBERATELY smashed into the back of the other car and f*cked his car up pretty well he said it was "most satisfying".

I drive a Transit van for work with a 70mph limiter fitted and I have to judge my overtaking chances on motorways and dual carriageways carefully and you cannot believe the amount of cars that steam up behind me trying to push me out of the way when there is a sticker clearly stating I'm limited to 70 mph on the back

Done about 1500 miles over Christmas and the new year, and it's astonishing how many people try to crash into you when you're driving at a constant speed in a straight line. The worst is the ones who amble aimlessly towards the end of the sliproad and then have a tantrum when you don't move out of their way.

They really do believe that you have to get out of their way, and that if you don't you're the one in the wrong... the mind boggles.

I notice this increasingly when passengering with others and the driver rants "what's this knob doing??" Errm, he's doing the right thing, the more appropriate question should be what the f*ck are you doing??

Ive found in30/40mph speed areas ie through small villages, audis like to tailgate quite a bit. I just sit at precisley the speed limit and drive safely, having two dashcams i care a bit less about this now because if they do cause an accident there is proof that they were driving dangerously.

Although id love to see how quickly a tailgating car would react to the correct message being displayed on one of these:

Why is it A3s that are the worst?

Maybe they feel they've 'something to prove' as in they've bought a small Audi but need to show that this doesn't mean they're a push over?

A4's are mostly sales reptiles who just want to get there without fuss I guess, but also feel they're superior to others.

A5's I'll reserve judgement as they are kinda cool and should be driven by decent types.

A6's are full of pompous arse-wipes showing us they can afford more/better.

A1's on the other hand can FRO they'll never cut it IMO.

To be honest it's seems to me it's all the drivers of german marques that seem to have the problem with not being able to wait.The new Transits we are being issued with have 60 mph limiters on them so that should really pee off the A3 etc brigade.

If anyone begins to get too close, I start to brake. My favourite stock message on the scroller is: "I tend to brake erratically for no apparent reason." Works for me.
