I think you can arrange your own GAP insurance for less money than most Finance Providers want.

I guess it might be useful to have to protect the deposit you put down as it bridges the gap you might have in a settlement claim. Might be worth reading on somewhere like moneysavingexpert for advice.

No idea, never bought anything on finance (or does a mortgage count?) The wife buy stuff on finance (I think that's what it is) it's generally things we can afford but then they offer her zero percent interest so I guess it doesn't matter anyway.

Anyway, I was just thinking the title of this thread needs changing. Or maybe not.

Picked the car up an hour ago.
Well happy with it. Engine is adequate although no where near as grunty as the Mondeo was.
The amount of kit on the car is unreal for a Focus!

Light all purpose cleaner sprayed onto lower parts of the car.
Foam the car with a foam lance and rinse at high pressure.
Wash the car using the two bucket method and a new lambswool wash mitt.
Clay the car with Bilt Hamber Autoclay using water as lube.
Light polish using Meguiars #205 compound with a 3M Ultrafine polishing pad with a rotary machine polisher.
Coat of poorboys black hole.
Finished with a Duragloss 111 sealent.

May put a wax ontop to add a bit of wetness to the paint. We'll see how she comes up!

I think I'd be shitting myself hooning a polisher all over a new car, word has it that clear coat isn't as thick as it used to be (for eco reasons) be interesting to spot check it with a PTG and compare to other cars just for interest.

What do you use for an APC by the way?

I'd really like to machine polish my car but the array of pads/polishes baffles me too much.

I just had a quick buzz over it with a PTG. Seems to be around 120 microns across the car. Slightly more on both bumpers being around the 160 mark.
Not sure how much of that is clear coat. The pad and polish choice has next to no cut anyway. It's simply a finishing polish.

I use any cheap and cheerful APC. I usually buy whatever is on offer in Makro.
