Thank you and goodnight

Post by Adamski »

After 7 years and 80,000 miles with my 2001 Exec 2.0 Petrol, I waved it goodbye last night in anticipation of picking up a 2009 Saab 9-5 TiD Turbo Edition tomorrow.

I've been a lurker here for pretty much the whole time I've had the Pug and just wanted to thank you guys for all of the advice that's helped me sort out random misfires, water in the spare wheel well and footwells, the notorious electrical gremlins and all the other fun that goes along with 406 ownership.

It's been a hardy motorway mile muncher and stuffed to the gunnels for house moves, camping trips and tip runs but only a dicky battery has ever prevented it starting up first time. It also proved itself as the last car standing on a couple of wintry trips away.

I'm hoping the Saab lives up to the Pug's standards!

Those Saabs are very nice and ridiculously cheap since they went through! I know someone with a 93 TTiD and it goes like a stabbed rat!
I think my choice would have to be the 93X though. :supafrisk:

Not entirely certain of the origins of this idiom. If I were to stab a rat, it'd probably stop moving. It might twitch a bit though.

Adamski - good luck with the Saab, gotta love a car that comes from a place called Trollhattan. Just remember, half the bods who've commented on this post so far (or are likely to comment on this post after me) no longer have any sort of Peugeot, let alone a 406, and nobody's told them to bugger off yet, so you're probably still OK to stick around and talk bollocks with us lot.

Indeed this forum is able to deliver premium bollocks at will.

Hope you have as much luck with the Saab and feel free to lurk in perpetuity.

I 'poked' one with a .22 airgun pellet from a vintage Theoben Sirocco at getting on for 50 yds and it slowed down completely. :?
It's mates didn't tho, they decided to lunch on their recently deceased buddy within an unseemly minute or two.
