What a PLONKER !

Post by Sagwala »

So, eventually got round to starting to defap the 2.2 130bhp estate. Excitedly starting bashing away ............ At the CAT ,

Obvious question, now that I am totally defapped and 'ahem' decatted, have I made the mother of all errors, or can I go ahead with the software upload.

Yours embarrassingly

I think you'll find you have done yourself a favour, I would have bashed the cat out too....

I have a remapped 2.0HDi, and I found that hollowing out the cat gave me a noticeable reduction in turbo lag, boost comes on a little earlier now and I can hear it spin up sooner. I did notice that it made the turbo more audible though (which I really enjoy) but it doesn't harm it at all, in fact the reduction in back pressure on the turbine is a good thing and will reduce wear on the turbocharger.

It'll be fine. You will hear the turbo a bot more and your exhaust will smell like a 1960's Routemaster bus.

I've run defapped 2.2's with and without cats and noticed no difference, other than as noted above.

Well, I thought I'd done the hard bit? How the hell do I get this Galletto 1260 thingy to work. I am used to just putting discs in and having them Autorun and Install, not this one.

Would really appreciate a 'Total Dummies' How to guide please.
