Has anyone ever tried alibaba for parts, i typed in Peugeot 305 just for the heck of it and there is more parts than i had expected:

Rear tail lamps:
http://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/T ... 55158.html
Rear shocks for estate:
http://uk.alibaba.com/product/600391975 ... sel-1.html

The only thing is the minimum order, it says minimum order 50, do they keep the parts in stock or make them up depending on the order?

I havent done much to the 305, everything is sitting ready to blast, i even bought a few bags of glass beads which are seemingly better on cars than sand. But its just a case of getting money together to do it, but i put the old GTX through the MOT and it passed, and installed a pair of cheap ring spot lights on the front

There are some issues ive noticed, the brakes are sticking the rear ones are all new and adjusted correctly so it seems the front callipers are sticking, a bit of disassembly will show whats wrong, the engine isnt exactly the ball of fire i was hoping from a 1.9 to be honest the old automatic with kickdown actually would keep up with it in its current state, part of the reason is possibly that 2 cylnders are down on compression with 150 bar, 160bar, and the other two have 180bar, it doesnt loose water or use oil so its not really a worry, the problem is that it misses due to the worn dizzy cap, and rotor arm, and the old looking ht leads, all easy to change and they might improve things.

I was mulling the idea around in my head however, this wont happen until the s5 is finished but what sort of engine is the 2.0 EW10 engine? If a DW10 fits into a 305 surely this would? Do these give any trouble, any particular areas or sensors that wear out, and would the catalytic converter be easy to remove from the ecu map?

I read soda's the thing to use these days? Dunno, there was something on AS about sand blast sand actually causing rust.

EW10 could be hours of fun comparing parts diagrams for which driveshafts etc. to use. No idea bout longevity but I don't suppose the breakers will be running out of them any time soon. No idea about the cat either, maybe see if you can find someone using one on the track? Or maybe PM OdinEidolon?

I had heard that the sand contains imputities which causes the metal to rust again, aidans been doing a few cars with these glass beads and says its much better stuff, i had mentioned soda blasting i cant remember why he cant use it it could have been the machine he uses doesnt work too well with it.

I was thinking of just buying the full car, swapping the mechanical bits all over, yes there are quite a few snags but i wonder would an EW10 be a good engine, there was the old turbo 2.0, and then the Mi16 engine, ew10s seem to be much easier to come across.

Soda needs a special machine, just sayin people are moving away from sand.

There doesn't seem to be people queueing up to tell you the EW10 is crap, unlike 1.6 HDis, and they've been around for quite a while now.

Just bin off to look at vids of soda blasting, copious amounts of water are involved which I guess is ok if you live in a climate where things dry out quickly. There are ways of doing it without but it'd take months to do a complete car.

About 2 years ago the Body Shop next door had a subcontractor turn up to 'Soda' one of the Customers' Morris Minor........they've just about finished cleaning up the mess now and should have it finished by the Autumn......

Seriously though it did a good job but the mess!
