That's splendid news, well done to Wellyeta :cheesy:

My nephew flunked all his AS levels  When he was younger I told him either he works like a dog now but has an easy life or he has fun now and works like a dog for the rest of his life. His birthday is coming up, I guess I should buy him a collar and lead :(

I acted like the class goof at school and never paid much attention, walked* away with 5 x O-Levels and straight into a job (1987)...in the same industry as I am now, I'm not saying its been bad for me but I could be in a much better position had I paid more attention back then. My sister has a degree in accounting and is a Finance Director for a huge outfit....she doesn't actually do any 'work' because she has a team under her. Her income is quite literally mahoosive.

These days you need a list of quals as long as your arm and must stand out from the rest to enable selection for work or further education. My lad chose to do reading to Primary School Children during his A-Levels and this was all put on his Uni application, as did his part-time work at the Co-op.

The schools ("Academies") are quite good at guiding the kids through all of this now but its a three-way partnership including the parents; something which me and Mrs_Welly have put a lot of effort into supporting them through school.

There's quite a focus now on first-time job applicants to check whether they've ever done part-time work or especially volunteering as this shows 'character' rather than having spent their youth playing on an X-Box.......

My nephew's girlfriend has two part-time jobs outside school but my nephew isn't interested. My dad paid for him to get his private pilot's license and that'll look rather good on his CV but he needs to keep dong it or it'll lapse and sadly these days he'd rather play stupid computer games than go for a fly. Ffs when I was his age my dad offered to send me to dancing classes :frown: Things were a lot tighter then obviously but I'd still rather cut my own leg off with a spoon.

Meanwhile... I was at the vet's earlier with C+C (all ok). I really need to remember not to look into the owner-less kitten cages

I would love that ginger, I always wanted one. But I'd also have to have the tortoiseshell and there's two black'uns in there that I'd also feel guilty for not taking...

Two cats? Pah, we've got 7 (we had 8 but it appears Obama took offence to the kittens and legged it. Or maybe the neighbour's ate him. Or Srećko says he's been abducted as the trail just ends. Or maybe he's been assassinated). Anyway, yes, only 2 cats, you need more.

Go on, kittens, you want at least one.

Although I can understand how expensive it is there, it was bad enough before I left but from what I hear from my family the vets have go so expensive I'm amazed anyone can afford a pet at all.

Well, yesterday.....sorting a new Suit for the Funeral tomorrow:

Go to Next on Tuesday night, choose suit/shoes/shirt....but WAIT my size it out of stock....but DON'T WORRY Sir, we'll order it to come in overnight and text you Weds when it's in......

Weds night after work 18:00hrs.....hello it's me come to pick up the suit.....*gets handed a very light-weight package*....err, where's the Jacket and Shoes?....ooh I don't know what's happened Sir, let me make a Phone Call........ONE HOUR later I'm heading North with half a suit to the nearest 'Big Town' to the £bumrape Car Park of the £megabumrape Shopping Centre......Hello I know it's late but the other store just rang you and you should'a put a suit jacket to one side for me??......*goes off for what seems like weeks*.....

FINALLY I have everything I need for Friday, but it's now 20:00 hrs, I've had nothing to eat and I'm pissed off. Oh and I left the Car Park Ticket on the passenger seat about a million feet away from the Pay Station :frown:

Why is nothing simple when on the face of it it should be VERY simple

Never mind, I'm sure the 'Big Town' to the North would have one of those excellent Pizza establishments you think so highly of.

Seriously though, I thought that sort of thing only happened to me......

Hope the funeral goes as well as it can for you.

You didn't already have a whistle? I was frog marched out to buy one a few years back. It's had a fair bit of use sadly.

I'm not too familiar with the GB ceremony but here my main purpose is to support twife, I concentrate on her (the kids too in your case) and don't put too much thought into what else is going on (I don't understand much of it anyway). I usually have a packet or two of those disposable hankies about me, they generally come in useful.

It all went very well in the end, the service was non-religious which was refreshing and it was held at a Crematorium rather than a Church. I worded the Eulogy for the service and the 'Vicar' must have liked it as he read it word for word, that bit was hard to listen to I have to say but we did the FiL proud that day, the sun was shining and it couldn't have gone better. There were over 60 people there which was nice to see.

......picking up a screw in my front tyre :frown:

Heard a 'tick tick' noise when turning, thought it was a stone stuck in the tread but saw a screw head, of course I had a go at removing it to be greeted by that Hsssssssssss we all know :frown:

Trouble is I've never used the space saver it's still factory fresh and because I'm a fussed-arsed knobber I wanted to keep its originality....something of an achievement* I've managed in the last 6 years.

Picked it up parking on resi streets near work, lazy twats why don't people pick up screws outside where they park :frown:

Going to the tyre place shortly.....

I guess you should've left it alone, a screw sticking out of a tyre is never going to be good. I hope you managed to stick it back in (or one similar).

Both the yoyos have their original, unused, spares, the old one has an 11 year old Michelin all season and the new one has a 7 year old Yokohama all season, both too old to be safe  but they'd do in an emergency.

Fixored!

£15.00 lighter; puncture 'plugged' wheel re-balanced* and a new eggsauce rubber hanger fitted what I told them to do as well.

'kin hope they've balanced it proper, got some motorway travel looming.
