Re: My new 406 project....
I would be inclined to replace the MAP sensor personally. It may well still be the original and carbon deposits can form in the little plastic tube in the sensor (as well as the small rubber hose from intercooler, worth clearing that out with a pipe cleaner). Considering with the remap you are operating close to the limit of the sensor at 2400mbar (2500mbar absolute is the limit before the signal becomes impausible), it may well be providing slightly incorrect readings but not so out that it flags a code... When I replaced my MAP sensor, there was significantly less vibration around 1800-2000rpm when the turbo spooled, as well as less hesitation when going from 0%-100% throttle.

Re: My new 406 project....
Hi Ben, I have replaced the MAP but it was with a LMF brand, but I do seem to have a collection of old MAPs here so I can gradually work through them.
Failing that I have the VW MAP sensor for the power upgrade, I may take the plunge and fit this instead.
Cheers for the input.

Re: My new 406 project....
Sorry I didn't see that!
I couldn't see anything out of the ordinary with the live data, looks fine to me... Be handy if planet could graph things as the few snapshots per second sometimes isn't quite enough to spot an issue. I know it logs the live data somewhere in the PP2000 directory, but cant remember where... If you could find the text file with the data in, I may be able to get Excel to import it and graph each sensor input (like Sam's Ford software could), then it would be easy to spot any flat spots or weird areas on the graph.
EDIT: Found it, viewtopic.php?f=3&t=21706#p218830. Have a look in there and try and find the log from when you went driving. I may have to knock up a bit of code to import it into excel nicely but I'm sure it's do-able. Should give us a little more insight into things

Re: My new 406 project....
Okay - well earlier tonight I swapped the MAP sensor with 4 other MAP sensors I had lying around and all had the same result.
I then tried 3 different solenoids with the same result...
Then I changed the complete throttle housing and TPS, with the same result.
I then slid under the car ( luckily I can just drive up a kerb and do it cos I'm a skinny one.. ) and there is a teeny tiny puff of air coming out from the join between the rigid turbo pipe and the rubber bottom intercooler hose - but its barely noticeable when there is a hell of a blow coming out of the air sock, just above the lower pipe, maybe my air sock is rubbish and starving the engine???
I'll remove the airbox from the sock and stick a piece of gutter pipe in to supply air, and see if it makes a difference.
Ben, thanks for the link, I'll have a peek but my computer skills are on par with my inability to stand up without making a noise....

Re: My new 406 project....
Right - I did a round trip last weekend of around 350 miles ( Bournemouth to Woolacombe Bay, then to Ashbarton estate in Braunton for a wedding, back to Woolacombe for a rest then home to Bournemouth ) and the car behaved itself. It still has the flat spot which I am still working on resolving but otherwise I'm well pleased. There was me, Mrs Magic and the 2 mini-Magics and a boot full of stuff and on the way there I was on for a 50mpg average but then it was getting a bit late so I had to get there soon so I drove with 'vigour' and the MPG was down to 46. There were numerous occasions where I could effortlessly overtake a slower vehicle which I wouldn't have attempted in the Picasso, and with the Cruise Control set at 65 - 70 even the biggest of hills was a breeze
Thats good enough for me, and considering the car sometimes doesn't move for weeks on end......
I am awaiting 2 gauges to be sent through the post ( still sorting out the correct ones.

Re: My new 406 project....
When I got in my car this morning I was greeted by this..

It has been getting worse for a few weeks now ( it was almost perfect before this ) so I bought this one from eBay for £20 inc. postage;

Its not a great deal better, but not bad for the price and at least I can read the trips.....

That's a shame. Mine has been misbehaving a little on the colder days, but usually recovers after half an hour or so.

Re: My new 406 project....
Take it out and stick it in the airing cupboard for a few days to dry out (now you have two you can rotate them!)
Mine looks like that most mornings these days, but run the car for an hour or so and all the lines come back, I'm convinced it is moisture related.

Re: My new 406 project....
Thanks, although this screen has now gone very liney too, so I really need to sort out the water ingress - a day with the doors open ( not when it was raining..!! ) seemed to work, so the old, old, old MFD is now in the de-hu room drying out to see how it looks when I plug it back in, as suggested I could rotate them depending on weather conditions...
On a random note, I have an ABS fault ( Left Rear Sensor according to PP2000 ) and its a permanent fault. It came on once when I braked a little sharpish and reversed a bit quick into a mates driveway ( he lives on a busy road
) and disappeared soon after. Came back again under the same circumstances of hard braking and was there for good - well it was until yesterday and its now gone?
Before I remove my rear disc, and possibly ruin a perfectly good handbrake, is there a weak spot for rubbing/chaffing or water ingress for this sensor?
Thanks all.

Re: My new 406 project....
Another update - I have put the old MFD back in, which is the best of the 3 that I have. I can't believe its the same screen as in my first picture before - definitely affected by moisture ( eBay here I come.. )

I bumped into a chap called Tom, he lives 2 streets away, who was scrapping a china blue estate, so with a bit of a swap session ( I gave him stuff from my donor car ) I now have a dent free rear passenger door...

We had to change the window motor as his car had manual windows, its a straight fit and the loom just feeds through, and we replaced the check-strap from my door to new door - Its the same colour door, just different days...
Also the rear drivers side is water proof now thanks to a replacement seal, and fitted one of Tom's CD head units so I can enjoy* listening to the kids CD's...
I still have the ABS fault, but it comes and goes even though its a permanent fault, so I'll be checking this in the next few weeks...pfft.

Re: My new 406 project....
I wouldn't worry too much about the ABS fault...I've had this a few times with rear sensors...the light comes on and off after a heavy braking session then goes away for about 9 months or so...had it on my brother's car on wednesday this week!
The fault had been off for 9 months then came back on at the mot test after they had done a brake test...light is now out again!

Re: My new 406 project....
Thanks John - my Peugeot mechanic chappie simply* replaces the wire from the sensor to the 'where ever it goes' with one long piece to eliminate false faults, he says its common for the OSR sensor to have issues..
It came back on when I hit a bump, but then off again next time I started, prior to that it was on for about 2 weeks, off for 3 days etc etc..
