Definitely worth checking all the high power connections, earth and +ve.
If you don't find a solution, I would probably do the same and hold off buying a battery until next year if you think the coldest part of your winter is over.
Lead acid battery performance is highly dependant on temperature as the chemical reaction required to release the energy does not work as well at low temperatures. - battery capacity reduces by about 1% for every degree below +20C.

Does anybody have a wiring schematic for the earth points?
