Don't know much about them but for reliability you can't beat the 2.0. 8 valve Hdi although I suspect it might be a bit underpowered, although a manual one shouldn't be to bad.

I'm told they're not as spacious on the inside as they could be. Remember, the 607 was Peugeot's attempt at a luxury car, aimed at the executive market - so cabin space really matters for this.
I think for a car of this type, you want the engine to be powerful, so that it doesn't have to work hard (and thus generate lots of noise) while still being usable. Therefore, the HDi 170 or the V6 petrol models would be best.

I is envious of the auto-dimming door mirraz. The rest you can (attempt to) park. What owners say...
“ It's HUGE - room for 5 BIG adults and at least 3 bodies in the boot (!) ”
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

Re: What do we think about 607s?
I had a go in a 2.0 HDi 110, felt a tad underpowered but could be remapped up to 140 might liven it up a bit. The V6 Automatic suited what the 607 is trying to be better than a diseasel and they are dirt cheap when they appear.
Cabin space seemed good, felt bigger than the 406, build quality inside feels much more solid, plenty of nice toys, PP2000 works ok with them the electrics are easy enough to tame. Its not a bad car to sit in or drive, but that front end puts me off them somewhat.
