Hi.
Been looking for a shed .. (Storage shed)
As all my tool's are out in the rain..
£100s of tools /spanners and sockets turning to rust.
Anyone know of any good places for sheds' ...
Ideally looking for something metal..seen some in b&q and they're made of fencing pannels.
Won't last 5 mins with the winds we have here...
I bought a shiplap wooden shed from Sainsbury's online and it's rather spiffing 10' x 6' with double doors, pitched roof and two windaz. That was two years ago and its still rather spiffing. I modified the structure a bit with more bracing and more brackets/cleats to fix the sections together better. I also used a roofing mastic to the felt roof joints to stop the wind getting under them.
It was about £300.00.
I've noticed the plastic ones are expensive for a decent-sized one and metal ones can fill up with condensation. I think wood is fine if you look after it and if you build it together strongly in the first place.
You may have detected some excitement in what I've written above and this is purely down to me waiting 10 years for a Shed at our house and now I have one I f*cking love it
Reminds me I must renew my subscription to 'What Shed' and 'Shed and Outdoor Storage Buildings Monthly'

To be fair Steve with a garage like the one you have I think you're just being a bit f*cking greedy.
Avoid BillyOH sheds on ebay. Bought one 2 years ago and I'm going to have to replace it this year. Floor has rotten and I've had to reflect the roof. Second time I done it with the bitumen stuff you can lay the felt on and it's a much better fix.

I thought this would be about cars that don't move very much...
Congratulations on the shed Welly, I was after a shed myself but it turns out I'd need planning permission for anything with walls (even an outside loo ) so we moved onto rebuilding the barn but the first stumbling block with that was, even though it's clearly on the ordinance pictures taken in 1968, it didn't make it onto the plans, which isn't our fault but turns out to be indeed our problem and it's taken dealing with a complete arsehole in the planning office who seems to be on holiday every other week but eventually we managed to get an appointment with him to come and measure the barn but he turned up at a completely different time but was adamant that this was the time we arranged even though my wife was at work and the idiot failed to notice the door bell on the gate post so I just saw some fat head turn up outside the gate and then go away again finally at the right time he measured the shed which took 13 minutes and cost us nie on 100 quid and then we had to hire a surveying company to accurately survey our old barn and enter it into the town plans so it's cost us 800 quid and a load of ag and the barn hasn't even been touched yet why is it every time I want to do something here some useless arsehole thinks they can help themselves to the contents of my wallet for doing f*ck all?
On the other hand, I can put up as many 5x4m car shelters as I want, I could completely cover the yard with them, so long as they're not actually touching one another
I'm missing my old garage..there was about 10yrs worth of junk I'd collected.
I say junk most of it was old tools..some u don't see anymore.
I've only brought about a car boot full with me .
Spent a day trying to clean rusty spanners...I've give up.
Iwill order one of them plastic sheds ..at least it won't rust...
Anyone want anytools I'm sick of the sight of them now..her indoors won't let me bring them in
I bought a shed from a local timber yard, much much better that the stuff you get in B&Q for about the same price. Was delivered by 2 blokes on a lorry who gave me a base, 2 sides, front and back, 2 roof panels, roll of felt and a couple of bags of nails. Banged it together in about an hour, slapped a couple of coats of paint on it and filled it full of junk, that was about 15 years ago. Painted it a couple more times since and changed the roof felt once and it's still in really good nick. It's right up the back of the garden too so gets a real beating from the weather. The only problem is that one side is against a wall up to about 3ft, so that area's never been re-painted and the wall (and all the leaves and pine needles down there) keeps the area nice and moist, so I'm going to have to do something with that in the summer before it rots out

I bought a secondhand concrete sectional garage some years ago for very little money and converted it into my TV repair workshop and store. I insulated the workshop half with 2" polystyrene sheet covered with hardboard although you could use plasterboard. I also insulated the floor with polystyrene and the door and partition, the result was that a 1kw storage heater kept it warm until about 9.00 pm and dry of course.
Its a bit more work that your average shed but I have had two wooden sheds since I have been here and both fell to bits after not to many years whereas this one is virtually indestructible.
