Mileage Jump

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Mileage Jump

Post by sawarren88 »

Hi All, Driving along merrily today on the M69 when the rev counter and speedo dropped to zero and the mileage/ trip display disappeared briefly. When it came back on the mileage had jumped up over 360000 miles.

Any ideas - the MOT is due next week and a recorded mileage of nearly 400000 miles won't look very pretty.

My vehicle is a 2001 2.0L HDi

Thanks for the help

I don't know what to suggest other than posting "WINNAR!!!" in the high mileage thread...

I guess a dealer might(?) be able to fix it, I shouldn't think they'd have an issue taking it back since 360k miles in 51 weeks (since your last MOT where you'll have the mileage on record) would have involved doing 42mph 24 hours a day since your last MOT, which is a bit unlikely for a D9...
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

very true

most likely a hicup in the BSi, or outright BSi failure, they can go in the most bizzare way
