i need to know if its possible to remove the anti theft locking wheel nut on my 406 without the adapter nut key thingy.
i do have the adapter key thing, but the nut itself is knackered, the 4 small hole which the adapter slots into have rounded off and the adapter key just has no grip and slips out. and by doing that has also knackered the key (by bending the 4 small rods in it).
i really need to get this nut undone as i need to change the rear pads and some of the suspension rods,as i will be doing a lot of miles soon (driving to france for the F1 gp).
Your local tyre fitter should be able to remove the knackered lockers with their removal tools. Ditch the pug lockers and get yourself some aftermarkets from a Halfrauds type factors for around £20.
My key shered its pins (like most do) so this is what I did!
I used to work as tyre fitter and you can get a tool to remove locking nuts, but to be honest most of the time we just used to get an oversized old socket (20 or 21mm) and tap it on over the locking nut with a small hammer. This worked a treat for crcking them off BUT you have to be careful not to damage your alloys when doing it.
My wee bro has lost the nut key of his 306. If i get the nut out of the hub without damaging it and take it to peugeot would they be able to supply a replacement key to fit the nuts?
They are the genuine pug locking nuts with washer, ideal for the gti-6 cyclones on her . However i do not have the original box for the wheel nuts.
I had exactly teh same problem. I put the locking tool in a vice, and then chisel and hammered the pegs back in place. Put it back on the nut and then got my breaker bar and a 19mm socket on it to fit the adapter. I pused really hard against the socket to keep the adaptor on tight while my next door neighbour pulled on the bar and it got it off. I'm going to ditch them for normal bolts I reckon. Buggar having that hassle again!
