Strip and lube the guide pins, then throw some fast road pads on, makes a world of difference

Is the Brembo caliper a straight swap or are the mountings on the suspension leg different *(suspects the latter)*.

I'd love to have some brakes I could really hammer as part of my fast road use without them fading.

The brakes on her indoors E36 are fantastic, mahoosive discs and ducted cooling 8)

Straight swap.....ish

The brembos bolt straight on, then you need the bigger disks (304mm) then you need bigger wheels, and there arent many aftermarket wheels that take the brembos. V6 coupe wheels are the best option.

The other problem is the cost

Brembos off eBay £200+
Disks £40-50 ish
V6 wheels off eBay £200+
Decent pads £50.

If you get some fast road pads they do improve quite alot, goodridge hoses should help considerably too.

I can but dream I suppose.

The trouble is, if you uprate the fronts it makes the backs lazy and you end up with out of balance braking (not nice at high speed). Ultimately you would have to do something? with the backs to keep them busy.

My rear discs run really clean, I get the impression the standard set up uses the rears more that you would think.

My rears are also clean.
The 406 brakes really are woefully poor for such a heavy car.
Even if mine are a bit shot they are still poor.

Mine are fine. Can lock the wheels up at over 70, what more do you want?

Heh. Thankfully I've recently put my ABS fuse back in after I took it out during the snow and forgot about it :frown:
