My cars history

Post by TooT »

I dug out all my service receipts this morning and put them into order (anal i know)

Just been scanning through it all and the previous owner had shelled out nearly 2 grand in repairs, some stuff hes had to pay out for - 2x road springs, 2x cv boots, Radiator, 2x fan motors, cambelt, rear track arm along with the usuall of services, tyres, discs, pads.

All the repairs above are from 96k - 120k. I bought the car on 125k and only had to have the anti roll bar bushes on the rear done :cheesy:

But this is the reason i bought it because of its documented history.

Look ive got all the mot certificates aswell 8)

Has anyone else got all there repair history like me?

Yup, I've got an enormous amount of receipts for the car from the previous owners and from everything I've ever bought for it myself too.

Not quite sad enough to photograph it all though :P :cheesy:

Mine has had an utterly horrific amount of work done to it in the past. Shocking that everything's been ok for the past 60,000 miles!

I am missing the first 2 MOT certificates, and all receipts for servicing up until the servce which was done before i bought it.

I have kept everything since, and have tried contacting the previous owner but to no avail.

I intend on keeping my 6 until it dies, and squeeze every last mile out of it.

She is currently on 64,300 miles but if I get my new job then with commuting, in 2 years she will be on 120k!!! I intend on staying in that job role for at least 4 years so I am looking at a total of 175k in four years time.

Then there is the drive to Bulgaria next Summer which is a 3600 mile round trip......

I am sure the car will need a lot of work and money spent on it when it reaches starship mileage, so I will have a lot more receipts by then and probably two or three cambelts too...

I'm finding the opposite. Because I'm doing silly miles (3000/month) I'm driving it very carefully and not ragging it to save money on petrol. As a result it's not really being stressed at all so is faring much better than if I just drove round town or on B roads every day

my car came with no history at all, now the glovebox barely shuts its so jammed full, i wouldnt like to guess how much ive spent on my '6, though i know it wasnt as much as my last one

There is one hand written receipt with cambelt plus service on it dated somtime 2003 but what i cant understand is that the bill only came to 300 and somthing quid :?

Half tempted to ring the garage and ask them tp do it again for the same price

Right so from your experiance, if I don't rag it, and drive sensibly it will last longer. Mines a petrol so dunno if it will last to 175k without a full rebuild etc....

Don't say that, that's only a couple of months away for my petrol beastie (166k on the clock now)

That right welly. I thought they were standard equipment for all 406 owners?

They are the comfy trainers for walking home once you have dropped the 6 of at the garage
