Post by Black Pearl »

Adoo all at the 406 forum,

just a quick question and one thats been bugging me and costing me a fair bit in leather cleaning and " make shiny " products is, whenever i treat me seats to anysort of leather shine, e.g armour all's leather shine n what have ya, within a couple of days theyre back to there dullish self again, particularly the rear seat. ive tried all sorts of the proper stuff but none have lasted. would anyone know of any trade tips or owt that wont bloody fade off after a couple of days ?

They ain't supposed to be shiny mate, it's that kind of leather. They shine up quite nice with the leather care stuff (I use the Auto Glym one), but that's because the creams contain a moisturiser which then soaks in and makes the leather more supple, but returns the finish to matt. What you'll find is that the driver's seat will become shiny with time and use, but that's the accumulated effect of many hours of buffing by arse

i tried loads of different ones too, but the best is supaguard leather cleaner, it doesnt give a shine as its not supposed too, but it hides a lot of scratches and cuts, and gets of a supprising amount of dirt

I used to use Connolly Hide Food, with some pretty good results.

ah thats told me then, lol i thought the finish was shiny cus they was when i bought the car and gradually got the matt finish over time. nowt im doing wrong then for once. I have been using xymol leather treatment, does give a nice finish now that i know that they should be a matt finish. ( apart from the shiny drivers as dairess's method of ass shining does have that effect  ) oh are that knockin on the back end, as from what this lovely helpful forum told me about the anti roll bar bushes, turns out that yep, they was indeed shagged. though it does seem to be some sort of a weak point on 406's as the previous owner has replaced em cus they aint OEM bushes, not with motorquip stamped on em :P

cheers for ya help all, should anyone want to know how to hard wire in a dvd player please dont hesitate to ask
