Ive just taken a Bailey dump valve off my 2liter turbo executive.
Its a bailey DV24 and makes a very nice whoosh sound when you change gear.

Penny drops!
Ahh, now I know why the knob-ends that used to drive up and down my road's Wren-o 5's made that weird wooshing noise! I thought they'd done something stoopid! (I even found one after one had lost control outside the fish and chip shop, damn, should have kept it).

Re:
If you want a nice sound, get a diaphragm style D/V, it'll be louder than a piston type. BUT... its down to taste... most modern turbo petrol cars have a re-circ hich puts the released air back into the airbox/filter flow rather than dumping to atmosphere (the tiisssccchh sound).... personally i prefer re-circulating D/V's, not only because i prefer the silence, but because i think they have a more positive efect on the throttle response.Deano wrote:Tiny Tim wrote:Nooooooooooooooooo get a re-circ!Hi Tiny Tim are they quiet or do they make a nice sound too ?

I removed it because i felt chavvy, though i did notice a slight lag between gears when the turbo fired up that i didnt get whilst the DV24 was on.Deano wrote:Hi TehAgent for what reason have you removed it then ?it looks like the one I may get then

Re: Which Bailey dump valve please?
The problem you had or have is the same problem that you will get if using a diaphram based bov... you get a poor seal so you start leaking boost... this I find is a prolem with some single piston bov's... when I put the DV26 on mine... it was much better, crisper and more responsive... oh and it made a nice chirp lolTehAgent wrote:I removed it because i felt chavvy, though i did notice a slight lag between gears when the turbo fired up that i didnt get whilst the DV24 was on.Deano wrote:Hi TehAgent for what reason have you removed it then ?it looks like the one I may get then
