will be 20 in January
passed 06/05/06
1 year no claims
3rd party fire & theft
policy taken out on 05/02/07
£900 with hastings direct

BUT

i get a phone call to say that ive been misquoted, along with 3,000 other customers, so wont be honouring it. Given a new quote of £2900. Hastings promptly told to f*ck off! am currently tryng to get sum money back from them, the robbing b*st*rds.

New quote from Kwik-fit, exactly the same details: £1600

But have now lost out on 6 months (potential) no claims discount :!:

has any one else had this problem (if with hastings that is) :?:
The answers no!

That is a question waiting to be asked - how do you get banned from using an insurance company?
its a long story you see, but with tesco, i had tesco as my first insurance policy and kept changing it between 4 cars, two mainly and after doing it about 10 times the cut my policy short as i was taking the piss
then i had a policy with churchill, about 3 weeks into it they told me my sister also has a policy with them (which i knew) and told me that two different family members are not allowed to have 2 different policys with the same company and again termenated the policy
so thats how i got banned, i cant even get quotes from them

The barstewards. I had something similar happen to me when I was your age (a very, very long time ago...), however, the insurance co kept the policy going as it was their cock-up, not mine.

Must be worth a call to the insewerants bit of the financial ombudsman http://www.financial-ombudsman.com/cons ... laints.htm Or even CAB.

mind i'm 36 have been driving for a good 13 yrs max no claims with prot
and just out of curiosity i rang of all companys ASDA and got the lowest
quote from them and there underwritten by norwich union, i ended up

Just to let you know, the Ombudsman wont do anything unless you place a complaint through the insurance company directly first. You have to log an official complaint via the right channels and if they cant resolve the complaint within the specified timescale, THEN you can go to the Ombudsman. Normally what happens is you log the complaint, the company has 10 working days to acknowledge the complaint (in writing), then they have 30 days to resolve it. If they say that there is nothing they can do blah blah blah because it's out of their hands, then go to the Ombudsman. Sometimes the company will even advise you to go there if you're not happy.

There's nothing worse than an irate customer who threatens to get you sacked cos thy're going to the 'Financial Omnibus', even if you try and explain they dont want to hear. Once you let the company know that you're aware of the procedures, they'll comply... trust me, I used to work for one of those companies.

Oh and never say that you want to speak to 'The BOSS' cos it'll never ever EEEVER happen. Ever. Period.

Just to recap (zzzzz), log OFFICIAL complaint, company acknowledges within 10 working days, company will try to resolve issue (if they cancelled the policy on good reason, nothing you can do), if not resolved to your satisfaction AND YOU HAVE A CASE, call the Omnibus

God I hated working for CIS sometimes but damn I know my sh*t!

If you can do it, get someone older than you to insure the car and make you a named driver. I did that for my brother & it saved him £700 on the premium!

Only problem is you don't build up your no claims wi(well with most companies). So you save in the short term...

I did do that with my first car thou, but i knew i would go to uni and not have a car for 3+ years, so i would have just lost my no claims!

holy sh!t

some of these insurance quotes are f*cking crazy. I stay in a real dump of an area, high crime rate and i pay £330 tpft. Im 24, 3 years NCB but i think i get it cheap is cause im a full time dad, and dont speed or rally the car according to them. Seriously i would never pay any more than a grand and it better be a bloody sports car.

Hmmm gave that a try for a laugh - best it gives me is £300 - but I am a tiny bit younger and I have a V6.
Remember - it only takes a few inches of water to drown a 406 don't make the same mistake I made! The V6 Exec is no more.
