HDI 110 OIL CHANGE

What would ne the recommended oil change interval and what would be the max mileage you would do without an oil change.

Also how many miles is it possible to get out of an hdi 110 engine

service interval is 12k on the hdi. personally i change mine every 5k, some poeple do it more, some less. Becuse i change my that often normally takes about 2k for it to go black but is still not like real deisel oil after 5k when i change it, even with almost 160k on the clock.

There isn't a maximum really, its just how much you care about the engine really. oil change only cost about £20 so not worth not doing it!

The HDI engine is good for a lot of miles if looked after, there's taxi's about with 300k+! its just a case of looking after them and fixing them when they go wrong, which isn't normally the engine internallys but things like the high pressure pump, dmf, injectors etc.

Im changing mine tomorrow it seems to run ok but a bit worried as i have always had pug services have a had a few probs lately and even though i am doing it tomorrow it has done like 18k without on i think!!!

It's every 12000 or 2years

If you use it continuously around town, lots of cold starts/short journeys it's every 9000 or 12 months.

I only do about 8000 a year, the first year I did a winter oil change and then a summer one (recommended) but this year I left it for 12 months

I must admit that my oil goes black anout 2 weeks after changing it, and I always use forte flush first

I would recommend a good quality brand semi synthetic 10W/40 and a Purflux filter.

Ok changed it today bloody oil can didnt have a long spout so spilt it also changed air and fuel filters i do motoway miles about 99% of the year what a pain in the ass though that plastic undershield is im going to get it done again in about 2 months as would have done about 4000 miles by then

Two things: get a nice big funnel and you can get one of those gadgets that suck the oil out of the sump through the dipstick tube. I was talking to my brother about this the other day and he couldn't believe I was still doing it the old fashioned way!

I did spill a bit of oil in some of the crevices of the top end but i used an old sryinge that i used to use for putting ink in printer cartridges that seemed to clean it up a bit

Personally i wouldn't use one of them, very difficult to get all the oil out using them. if you take the sump bolt out and then run a little clean oil through it you know you should have almost all the old oil out.

I must admit I still feel a little sceptical myself but I'm willing to accomodate alternatives to getting oil everywhere (every bleedin' time, no matter how careful I am...)
