It's done!!!

Post by Captain Jack »

After a lot of faffing around due to bad weather, lack of money coupled with laziness, I have finally fitted in my leather door cards. This required rewiring of the switches and fitting a new bracket to accomodate MK2 cards on MK1 door.

And here they are!

Many thanks to jamesxldt for providing the door cards and old codger for invaluable advice on rewiring the switches and fitting the things.

I think my interior is pretty much done, although I might replace the driver side switches as there's some cracking at the bottom of the case, which doesn't look all that great.

Another thing I will probably be doing is spraying the glove box and the grey trim under the steering wheel black. As it seems a bit out of place at the moment...

Any other suggestions?

I do actually need 2, but thought I'd get them from the dealers. But if you're offering... :)

Well done cap'n have you thought about de-wooding the inserts? a nice darkish silver/grey? like the later 'S' models.

Nah, I don't like the silvery stuff. Wood look is nice and "homy". Might buy some silver rings to go around the dials though.

I'm not a lover of leather myself but that does look rather sexy. The bottom half of the dash stands out a bit now but don't be tempted to paint it as that always looks a bit naff, especially when the paint starts to peel off again :puke

No :( I could do it by connecting it to the button on the door sil, but it looked like too much work for not a lot of gain. I am sure there's a loose wire in the door somewhere already for the lights but I didn't want to rip the dynamat thingy off in search for it.

the wiring is partly there for the door lights, im just not sure what is missing, all you need is a permenant live and a door open earth, on the D9 its a case of plug and play, after configuring the BSi

Looking the part Alex. I don't think the grey dash looks out of place.
