Nice simple job I thought, replace the head bearings.
Remove the front end, piece if piss, wheel out, forks, headstock off blah blah. Removing the bearing races from the frame is another matter
I've got the top one out but the bottom bastard is refusing to budge despite heating and beating
Out with the dremel tomorrow I think, I will beat it into submission!

On top of that my wife comes out while I'm attacking the bike and tells me the washing machine won't work I had a look tonight & the plastic shaft that goes into the guts of the timer has sheared, £170 for a new timer I'm trying out a botch but I've lost interest for tonight!

Honda CB500 I'll have had it 10 years in March! It's a bit underpowered two up but for day to day riding it's a stonking bike, and touch wood it's absolutely bullet proof mechanically; I've not had to touch the valve clearances yet!

Well it's a washer dryer so not cheap It's going to break my heart but I think I'll have to get a new timer I want to keep the machine going because it's got no electronics what-so-ever; piece of piss to repair. On top of that I replaced the cold water solenoid & the drain pump last year

Teamster, she wants a new machine!!! your 'repairs' are falling short of the solution I feel.

A new washing machine maketh a happy woman, it's an important tool in their lives and it needs to do a good job. You will gain ubber brownie points for a new machine because you're buying it for herin reality.

I bought a Hotpoint washer at christmas, it's a 'Super Silent' model and even I could not believe how quiet it was it is a 'built-in' model so was more expensive at £300.00 with a 5 year warrenty. The free standing one was about £260.00 I think. I bought it from Sainsbury's on line they delivered and took away the old machine (for £12.00).

The drying bit of a washing machine is normaly crap and over-heats the clothes. We have a room in the house with a couple of 'clothes horses' and I run a dehumidifier in there (£65.00 from B&Q) this dries the clothes in about 4 hours and only uses 200 watts, the clothes don't get ruined by a machine and they smell nice too

Mind you the old one was 20 years old, we inherited it from her parents
