Hello Chaps

Just picked up a 1999 D9 manual v6 estate @ 66k in metallic green.

So far very pleased. mint/brand new throughout even down to unmarked leather - oh and goes pretty well too. Also still can't quite believe how cheap it was, insurance is fine too.. although I've already taken out an ISA to help finance the future fuel costs :)

Just one question... everything works perfectly except the clock won't keep the settings I put in.

I go through the set up, everything is fine until I turn off the ignition. When I switch back on, everythings gone and I have to start all over.

It's not a big deal, but just wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem? I've tried a few times and followed the instructions in the manual exactly (or so I think!).

Anyway, nice to be here.

Hi Steve, mmm, low mileage V6 estate, nice! I've been thinking about this, it sounds like a stereo that's been wired up wrong! Not something I've heard of (anyone else?) but a few questions - is it just the time settings it looses, or all the mpg trip stuff too? Anything else not work (interior lights, seat memories etc. etc.) What does it run like?

Thanks Steve and Toot,

Yep very pleased. My last few cars have been Saab 9000 Aeros which I've always been very pleased with. When the last one started to cave I did my usual Autotrader search (big engines less than 20 miles away and under £4K) and turned up the 406 top of the list.

I took the trip to see it just for fun and was so impressed that I decided to take a punt on the Peugeot for a change.

So far very, very impressed and the engine is smoothest I've driven.. although obviously a different kettle of fish to what I'm used to.

As far as my clock problem goes, all electrics are fine, the seats are good too. The stereo is standard and retains pre-programmed stations. The trip computer is also fine and retains all the usual info.

To be honest, I'm not bothered about it at all.. if this is all I find wrong for the time being I'll be a very happy man. My main worry was that it was early warning of something else in the mail.

Also, just as an aside.. I'm located near Milton Keynes and just wondered if any of you guys could recommend a place for servicing etc? To be honest I'm pretty handless when it comes to getting under the bonnet so always found it best to get in someone who might know what their doing ...:)

Anyway thanks again for the warm welcome.

Ive had my V6 2.5 years and in that time ive had no problems what so ever. In the 2 MOT's its had with me the first one it needed rear suspension bushes and the second just a wiper blade and like you im useless when it comes to working on a car, so the only work ive done on it is to change the oil and filter once a year. Its been uber reliable, but now im selling it (see my in my sig)

You will be very happy with im sure.

Well, I was clutching at straws there, if it dopped the lot I was thinking something deeper, other stuff not working maybe fuse, but it sounds like it's just the clock. I look at mine sometimes, it's usually an hour out...

So, you won't be going to Peugeot then :cheesy:
