That's who I was looking at. Don't forget the delivery and then the VAT on top. Unfortunately the S-shaped pipe going from the centre silencer to the back box is hideously corroded too, so it looks like I'll have to get both and buying the car and new insurance (lost 10 months no-claims because the AA wouldn't cover me on the v6steve_earwig wrote:Or these people £29.78. Er given the miles I've done in my turbo and the fact it's a comparative review against a similar car, yes.DurhamRed wrote:do you really expect to be taken seriously reviewing a £600 motor!!!!!!!
Excuse me? I've done over 70,000 trouble-free extremely comfortable miles in just 2 years in my last car which only cost a couple hundred more. Do you actually read the forums? Do you not see that people who foolishly spend £5000 on a 406 get exactly the same quality of car as someone who spends £500 on one? In fact that's wrong - the chances are a £500 '97 1.9DT will end up giving much more trouble-free motoring over the next 5 years than a £5000 04 HDi 136. The repair bills also scale up proportionately with the price of the car.Pig in a poke springs to mind mate - you don't get much of a car these days for that sort of dosh,
and? do you have a 406 that got built last year from all brand new parts? Half the people on this site have cars around 10 years old. I'm not comparing a 10 year old 3 litre car to a brand new Audi TT; I'm comparing an 11 year old 406 turbo to a 10 year old 406 V6.as for your remark on handling I bet its never seen new suspension for years!
Don't mention the 'c' word to me. Another guy on ebay accepted my offer of £700 for a dark green coop v6 needing new tyres and track rod ends. I'd only just won the auction for this one when i got the message...supafrisk wrote:If you think the saloon is a maneater, try the 210 BHP coupe.
Haha I bet a lot of what I said rung some bells then? ;) I've worked out why I'm having so much controlling it when joining a roundabout - it's because the acceleration is forcing my body back which is both pulling my arm down on the steering wheel and pulling my foot away from the accelerator! How are you meant to be progressive with it when your body is being pulled half way into the boot? ;) PRACTICE! PRACTICE! PRACTICE!The first time I drove mine after I bought it I wasn't sure whether the stains in my pants after I'd opened it up were from having an orgasm at the feeling of being sucked backwards at warp speed mach 3 as I booted it, or from having shat myself as I went sideways approaching a roundabout as I was booting it
I actually managed to drive to work this morning without wheelspinning it. I even used 1st gear too without short-shifting too much! Two years on and the jury's still out each time I drive it
