Re: Good deal or not??
Hi,
Well i am buying the car tomorrow and saying good bye to my 406.
Trem i like the grill that looks ace. And certainly much cheaper than £50, i am not sure why you get the “what are you buying a Peugeot for” from everyone. It is only until you give them a lift you get “ hmm this is a nice car” is this just a if it’s French you must hate it.
TBH i think the 407 and the new shape mondeo are the best looking saloons on the road at the moment in the £17K to 20K price range. But i cannot afford the new shape mondeo.
Trem i assume you have kept the stock radio? Only problem is that it does not play mp3’s, have you made any other modifications? I am looking at getting the rear blind and colour coded mud flaps plus the roof bars for the old kayaking.
James if you are around - is there anything i sould be looking out for before i hand over the cash or start to milk the waranty cow?

Re: Good deal or not??
yep i kept the radio its good enough for me tbh i only listen to it on about 6/7 its enough when you got passengers in
i dunno about the mp3 thing cos i never tried it i mostly listen to the radio
i also fancy the rear blind and the ones for the rear doors but expect money will stop me
i got contoured mudflaps but not body coloured no other mods except the chrome number plate surround and clear side repeaters(didnt cost nowr just swapped them from my sons 206 when he traded it in) if you want a beutiful mod try this bumper or the 407 sw sport

now that looks sweeeeeeet

Hi,
It seems i will be getting the car friday as the garage has to do the MOT and other stuff. What is the best way to confirm the mileage??? as it is low for the age. Don't want to buy a clocked one
and find out later it has done 121,000K
I could pay the AA to instect it, but that would cost?
one chrome number plate
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Chrome-Number-pla ... dZViewItem
i have also noticed the wipers sometimes judder across the screen on the 407 making a horrible sound, i was thinking of putting on some fit flat wiper blades.
also see the following for the rear blind: -

Re: Good deal or not??
mines got the flat wipers so yours should have as well
if they judder get them replaced by the dealer i didnt cos it wasnt too bad, but i left it until warranty was out then went to dealer to buy some and nearly passed out cos they wanted £27.00 EACH + VAT so get them sorted
as for the mileage if its a reputable dealer it should be ok but you could always contact last/only keeper

Hi trem1,
Not sure if you have read the same reviews, but most that i read say that the 2.0L is slower or at least feels "gutless" compared to the 1.6L. I am having a hard time understanding that as the 2.0L is 136bhp and the 1.6 is 110bhp.

Hi,
Still have not got the car
. I notice the rear visibility was some what poor so i am getting some rear parking sensors fitted, which means i am picking the car up Tuesday
. You think the saloon is bad try parking the SW. That is 90% guess work
They have also replaced the two front tyres as it failed the MOT on them
. Just ordered the rear blind and mud flags so i will hopefully get them sometime next week.

<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Thought the place was littered with SPECS (numberplate recognition average speed) cameras?
