if so it wont have FAP
yeah its defiantly a hdi 90 , i was told the 307 hdi 90 has got more " things " on them than a 406 hdi 90 cos its got an intercooler where as the 406 hasnt , but the bloke in the garage said its definatly that so i jsut hope he aint trying to pull a fast one
would problems with the fap cause the problems i been describing tho ?
just dip me in chocolate and throw me to the lesbians
its a 307 rapier 2.0 hdi 90 on a 52 plate and i just phoned my mother and she has taken it into the garage this morning to have the work done and was told to pick it up on thursday so i dont know what to do now

i definatly read somewhere ( maybe the v5 ) that it was a hdi 90 and even when you put the registration number in an insurance website for a quote it comes back as a hdi 90 would you be able to find out if i gave u the registration number james ? are there any obvious differences between the 90 and 110 to look at the engine ?

ok here we go, i have highlighted what we need, now the 90 in 2.0 form fitted to a 307, meets L4 (EURO4) but without a particulate filter, now either that info and i am wrong, or i just have no idea

i can tell by chassis no. not the reg unfortunatley, the V5 is frequently wrong, my old hdi was a 110, the log book said 110, ok so far, HPi check shows 90 experian check shows 110 current insurance showed a 90, what a result tesco compare told me its a 110

im stumped now is it worth asking the garage for the old parts incase they are trying to rip her off and is there anyway you can find out what engine it is from just the registration number thro service box thanks

i would ask to see the old parts, and get them to show you what they replaced on the car
if they replace the FAP filter, they wont be able to show you the old one as it will have to go back to pug as there is a surcharge on it, its the first part of the exhaust system from the manifold just before the cat, make sure you have a look, it will be nice and shiny
if it does have FAP, then this could well be the problem, but usually you get the K light and the multifunction display says some crap like unblock diesel filter and top up additive tank i think

thats what i thought but the " independant specialist " reckons that sometimes it doesnt . ill have to have a look underneath when she picks it up to see if anything has been changed and go from there , thanks for the advice james you been really missed on this site these last few weeks

turns out that the car is a hdi 110 according to the local peugeot dealer when i gave them the registration number . we picked the car up this afternoon but it feels no different even tho they ( supposedly ) changed the fap filter and topped up the eyolis oil and reset the ecu , you still cant hear the turbo spinning up and its really slow for a 110bhp car ( my 1.2 litre fiesta was doing 65mph up a steepish hill when the 307 was struggling to do 50 up there ) .
ill be phoning them in the morning but does anyone know where i stand on this cos the mechanic said he drove it for about 5 miles and said that it was fixed , i aint happy about being charged £420 and the problem is still there

the plot thickens , my mother took it back to them today and they plugged it back in and said it was the EGR valve , one mechanic said that no fault codes were showing but another one said that the egr valve was showing as the fault so they are gonna change it by the morning so its just wait and see

...and neither would I!
Take it back and seriously kick up a fuss (...I'd possibly go so far as asking for the old parts to be put back on and a refund because they obviously mis-diagnosed the fault, and due to their mis diagmnosis, you are being charged £420 fo "fixing" something that didnt need fixing - Why should you have to pay? Main dealers get away with murder for EXACTLY this sort of thing.
I know it might sound simple, but have you checked all the intercooler/turbo hoses to make sure there's no splits? I'd reccommend this straight away.
Secondly, the MAF is worth checking - You woud not beleive how much difference a faulty MAF makes to the running of the car.
