Re: veggie oil
I have only ever tried it on the older type diesel engines 1.9 and 2.1 12v but you can run it pure without any modifications dont know about the HDI engines as they have a few more electrics attached to them, I did find that mixing it with diesel does make the car run better though and I only use clean oil as I can't be bothered straining lumps of fish batter out of it. also If you use the used type you can't use it in the winter monthats as it set in the fuel injectors I had this problem a while back with a 405 and ended up warmin the fuel rail with a blow lamp to get it started. So my sugestion is run it 50 - 50 for the best results.

Don't put veggie oil in an HDi! It'll wreck the engine!

Re: veggie oil
I have been using veggi oil in my 2.1 TD estate with the Lucas pump. It has been running well. I have been adding about £10 of diesel per full tank. The only thing im noticing is that at times it idles a little rough, but I believe that the fuel filter needs changing and that will solve that little problem.

Re: veggie oil
well i finally tried it after talking to a few people i figured it was worth a go so i put 30l of fresh veggie oil in and washed it down with 20l of diesel first trip to work was nerve racking let me tell you but so far after 200 miles all seems good no probs at all only thing i really need to do is change the fuel filter and i'll prob get that done this pm while "she" is out shopping

[2p] A friend of mine has been experimenting with his 1996 VW poo-lo 1.9d and steadily increased the concentration of veggie oil (which is now expensive) until his fuel pump crapped out and scrapped 3 injectors

Re: veggie oil
I was under the impression (possibly incorrect) the problem with the lucas pump is the seal and that the veg oil "eats" them. The pump/fuel lines then start to leak. Whether this is true and how longs it takes i don't know....
