I have only ever 'brimmed' my tank once in 2.5 years
I know if you get paid monthly etc it's gonna get used up anyway but I just stick to £30.00 fill ups which last a week and a half - the thought of sloshing in £80.00 gives me the shivvers
It may be interesting to calculate an affordable drop in Salary and working close-by when thinking about the cost of fuel these days

Unfortunately my job isn't available just anywhere, in fact I'm in the only building in the south west that does it (next nearest place would be London and I am NOT working there.)
So I have to travel to work and don't want to leave my industry to work closer to home.
Well, at least you're in the right car for cheap motoring!!
Like you said before the 406 can be super-maintained or just left alone - it seems happy either way
I used to have a list of jobs for my car when I bought it - the jobs are still there, the list has been forgotten, but the car sails on fine without it.
All I do now is change the oil once a year

What BP and Shell selling Hydrogen or something?
They sell the same fuel from the same refineries as anywhere else btw.
The supermarkets have the supermarket shelves to support the cheaper fuel as the supermarkets call people in then people get fuel whilst they are there.
Let's not have that conversation again eh?
Actually it might be a freaky coincindence but I always seem to get better MPG out of Tesco's standard unleaded than I do out of either Asda or Esso, and I've seen the Esso tanker in Asda filling their tanks . The other surprising thing was that I once used one of those 5p/l off Tesco vouchers to offset the cost of a full tank of Tesco premium unleaded (97 ron instead of 95?), made no difference at all either to the performance or to the economy

I've never bothered to be honest, couldn't justify the extra fuel cost! (Unless I get a Tesco's voucher!)

Same.
My airbag light flashes, the fuel gauge sometimes drops to 0 and the immobiliser light comes on sometimes.
But the car still goes on
One thing I do want to fix is the blower seems to have stopped working on feet now and nothing comes out
It's too hot to not have nice air-con cooled feet at the moment.
when it was in the 0.90's for fuel i used to brim the tank. but now, i keep it about 40-50% full, as i feel the extra weight will affect my MPG and make me burn more fuel! ..
Altho i've just contridicted myself as last night i drove with 'passion' and got 25mpg out of a HDi :S .. boys will be boys
