LOWER ENGINE MOUNT REPLACE WITH UPRATED ONE OR NOT?

Post by rapport25 »

Hi, my friend has just gave my pug its service and has noticed my engine mount needs replacing. He suggested i get an uprated one due to it being chipped. Does anyone have any advice? Many thanks :D

Recently had mine done when the clutch was changed. Used a standard Peugeot part £11.97.

I did notice there was an upgrade almost solid rubber for the 405, didn't see one for the 406 but can see why you would want to. The standard part has a short life span that's for sure.

Good luck

Yes really want an uprated one i remember back in the day on my 205 mi16 that ran on carbs pushing out 230 bhp with uprated engine mounts it made such an improvement. Not expecting the same kind of improvement. But i would guess far superior over a standard one. Anyone else help please? It looks the same size and shape on my gti's i use to have.

Great news, have found pug motorsport supplier. It s a group N rally spec engine mount which will fit my pug :D The only thing is he has said i may feel vibation in the car due to being a lot firmer than standard one :? not sure what to now im kind of thinking suck it and see. As it will help with the extra power. :P

My mount has shot it and it bothers me a bit about how much the engine must move when accelerating etc. I was bothered about the hoses and cables being tugged on as the engine rocks about - it certainly moves a bit when blipping it from idle :|

Having said that its been like it for 2.5 years

tut tut i dont know   . With mine being chipped the engine moves sh*t loads. :( Have been advised if i put to harder bush there will be lots of vibration felt in the car  so its back to the drawing board ideally an uprated one but no to hard like the group N rally spec bush i was considering. If it was a petrol fine but being diesel there is far more vibration so its not advised.
