My V6 has a slightly lumpy and audible clutch pedal. Worried the hell out of me when I first got it, but it's just the spring grinding in the hole in the pedal!
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Uh?

I traced down the cause of the pulsing noise and definitely a bad tyre. I am pretty sure it's the rear passenger one but not 100%. So will get them all swapped over tomorrow.

the big spring in the clutch cover, they sometimes break. Just a thought, would also cause a slipping clutch but that's a bit academic now as the lovely man you bought the car off'll be replacing it anyway :cheesy:

Get the guy to check out the dampers in case that's what's goosed the tyre.

Oh, OK. Don't really know the internals of a clutch, I am afraid, except that there's a flywheel and a clutch. Could the clicking and slipping be a knackered thrust bearing too?

Welp, 4 new tyres, 4 wheel tracking and £454 later, the noise is gone.

Now for the clutch.....

I'd think it'd be making a hell of a racket before it affected the clutch. I had a release bearing once cut through the ends of the diaphragm "fingers" on my Craptina, made a change from me just destroying the friction disks.

I hope they paid for the tyres!!
