Re: How do you double clutch?
I double declutch automatically if I can't get the car into gear, I found this text just now;
TCSRacing wrote: 1. Clutch in (press the clutch pedal to the floor)
2. Move the gear stick to NEUTRAL
3. Clutch out (release the clutch pedal to its normal position)
4. Blip the accelerator (push on the accelerator pedal so the revs rise and fall)
5. Clutch in again
6. Move the gear stick to the new gear
7. Clutch out again

Before they invented sychromeshes you had to do this on all gearboxes, the idea seems to be to spin the main shaft in the gearbox to match the output shaft speed then shove it in gear crunch grind!

Re: How do you double clutch?
Something's been missed here... Basically when changing down a gear you change into neutral, come off the clutch pedal, hold/blip the throttle to where the revs should be in the new gear, then put it into gear
No point at all doing it in any modern car with a working clutch. I always blip the throttle on downshifts though - less wear on the clutch/gearbox, and smoother than an auto box now I've got good at it

<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
Re: How do you double clutch?
Yeah I always blip the throttle when downshifting - Just becomes habit after a while!
You stuff it up at first but just keep on practicing, it will become natural in no time!
