Recently purchased a 2.0 Turbo Executive, no drivers manual and 'Haynes' dont seem to like the 2.0 Turbo..so no manual either!!!
On the dash i have a gauge on the far left that lights up when the key is turned, then the light goes off and the dial returns to zero after the car starts??
What the hell is it...is it to do with the Turbo? I can i make sure the Turbo is even working correctly??
What you've got there is the oil level gauge, they don't light up for long as they're a bit useless once the engine's turning. As for the turbo, I'd think a large surge in power accompanied by a whistling noise are good things, performance of a barge and no whistling noise aren't. (I'm sure there're better indicators )

lol, thought it could of been oil...no turbo gauge it pulls great though and i do get a small 'pisshhh' sound ?!?!!
Yeah the gauge is for oil level, which only applies for the first 15 seconds of the ignition being on. Only trust it on a cold engine. As for an indication of whether the turbo's working, you'll have a very slight 'pssst' sound when you change gear when you're caining it, but it's only really audible in built-up environments like a tunnel or narrow country lane with bushes to the side. If you can do 0-60 in under 20 secs, the turbo's working.
