On D8s yes, the trip computer, climate control and trip counter (basically the three backlit LCD displays) all dim when you turn the sidelights/headlights on.

Otherwise they'd burn your retinas out at night  and stop you from being able to see the road properly

I've just sprinted out to my D9 to try it, no they don't dim (I thought they did :? ) but I'll try them again when it gets dark, just in case it's something else plumbed into the daylight sensor.

Nope, I even tried with the auto lights of, they stay just the same. They're not dazzling at night though, and I'm sensitive to bright lights too.

The D8 does and it was a complete nuisance when they had compulsory daytime lights here.

Neither of mine were fitted with an engine tray either. Hey, I'd rather a good car with no options than one with everything up sh!t creek :?

My display does not dim either!

You can always tell a D9'er at night by their spooky orange face behind the wheel :|

You can adjust the brightness of the D9 by pushing the button under the rev counter. When its any dimmer than full brightness the info display will dim when the lights are on. try it out

P.s two tricks

1. Holding the dim button will give you both extremes and then stop at them until you let go and press again.

2. Holding the CD button on your stereo will put it into Random (RDM) mode. Whoo hoo
