my d8's leaking with all this heavy rain!!!

I parked my old joy up overnight (parked facing down on a slope) and the heavens opened up all through the night! The next day the front passanger footwell was swimming!! A good inch deep!!!

The doors windows and sunroof were all closed properly, the seals seem good and the sunfoof drain channels are clear, where could it be coming from??

Its happened twice now, but only in hevy rain whilst parked! Nothing else is wet, just the footwell

Any ideas folks, im at a loss.

Is the lower window rubber sitting snug with the window glass? I had a Granada that did the same, eventually found that the rain was running down the glass, behind the rubber seal, inside the door and into the car.

It seems a bit of a way to come but there's a known problem with the rear light seals on saloons. Other than that, some seem to have sprung a leak around the ariel hole (mine's sealed with silicon).

Good luck with drying it out!

My ariel hole is bunged up with silicone too, has that leek sometime ago, the window seal is snug too.
I do have a leaky back light, is shows up as a damp patch in the seatbelt hole on the rear seat, is it possible it could be tracking down under the carpet to the front (when parked facing down hill)? The rear footwells are dry as a bone!

It's always possible I suppose. Try turning it round so it faces uphill!

My 405 did the same thing, the problem ... pettels! not only did they give my car pink dots, they bunged up the drain holes that are either side of the 'troff' at the rear of the engine bay, where the air intake for the cabin is are d8's the same?. It would fill with water, then run down into the air intake and onto the floor. took me months to work this out.

And the drains in the bottom of the door(s) are blocked? Might be worth a check, and as Jimmy suggests, check the drains in the back corners under the bonnet, maybe you're making some potting compost back there

Thanks guys, I have checked out all suggestions, and they seem ok. I did notice that a section of weather strip around the windscreen had tucked itself under the glass, a strip around 1". How its managed to do that is beyond me! I am hoping that the heavy rain was getting in there and tracking down to the footwell. The tucked under strip was on the passanger side. We havn't had any heavy rain since, and the car has dried out, so time will tell. I also siliconed around the rear light trim just to make sure. Fingers crossed

Its back again!!
Heavy prolonged periods of rain = flooded front passenger footwell!!

I am at a loss with what to check next, any ideas?

My D8 used to leak into the passenger footwell but I always parked it under cover so it only did it if it p'd down whe I was in work or something, Never did find the source but I always assumed it was tracking around the door seal. Then a few months after selling the car to a colleague and enduring endless lunchtime conversations about all the bits of my perfect car that he'd "put right" , one of the things he came up with was that it was leaking water (he lived on a hill that was a one-way street, so it was always parked facing downhill) and that he'd taken the door cards off to find that 3 out of the 4 water shedders (plastic sheets) had been cut open, (I assume she had central locking issues before I bought her, was still a bit tempremental) he sealed these back up and as far as I know the leaks stopped.

Check the splash-deck cover in the engine bay (bulkhead/bottom of windscreen passenger side) is clipped in place. If this is loose then water will enter the cabin via the pollen filter and straight into the passenger footwell!

It MUST locate properly at the bottom of the windscreen gully and then over the front of the bulkhead and over it's neighbouring plastic cover too.

I have checked the cover over the pollen filter and all is well there so that just leaves the doors to check out, I will whip the door cards off when the rain stops and post my findings. Fingers crossed

I've still got water pouring in from the alarm sensors when I start moving after it's been raining

Going to have to grab some silicone sealant methinks Might have a go with the hot glue gun first
