Hose clips

Post by mjb »

How do you remove and replace the hose clips? I never actually figured out how to do it on my tubby and ended up driving it clipless until it died.

It's those stupid clips that you have to fiddle with a pair of pliers and a screwdriver for hours to undo

Reason I ask is either the idle control valve or throttle pot is getting a bit dodgy on the V6 - it'll be rough and sometimes stall when maneuvering or holding the car on the clutch at 800rpm (idle) to 1000rpm. So I'm going to give both a clean. I just dunno if I'll be able to get the ICV back on properly given the limited access I have to the hose clip attaching it to the inlet manifold

You mean the ones that have a crimp in them to tighten them?
I read a while back that you have to cut them off and replace them with normal jubilee clips.

Fair enough, that'll do me :)

Lets hope I can get the buggers off now without putting a hole in the hoses

When i had the renault i found the easiest thing to do was force an old small screwdriver into the crimp and bend the crimp out then throw the bugger away curse the french and put a shiny new english one on
