Service box will give you the price:

Dont know why its trying to escape.

Have you a breather hose that could be blocked slightly and pressure is escaping through the dipstick hole which is pushing the stick up a bit?

Have been doing a bit of searching on the net. And if the plastic hdi cover is loose it can cause the dipstick to pop up. So i think i will replace one of the dampers and plastic clips whcih broke off first. Thanks for your help :D

This came up a while ago and lots said their dippy's were sticking up :?

I kept an eye on mine and it never ever moves in fact I pulled it out and revved the beast and not even a slight puff of pressure was evident.

The loose cover is a thought - why not ditch the cover for a week and see what goes?

To be honest welly mine has missed one of the clips for a while now and the dipstick has always come up alittle.
Just brought a pack off ebay for a bargain price off four clips and and dampners for £10 i think they are £5 for one from the steeler
Also have heard that if the cover is very loose it can open the filler cap and take it clean off. A friend where i use to work had this happen a few times

Well the dipstick is still sticking up. Should I replace it or not bother?

May as well if it's only a fiver - you don't want crap like grit, bugs or snapped dipsticks in your sump
