help needed with two things

i just got my 406 excutive its a petrol 2 litre on an r reg.the rev counter fgoes all over he place but the car is reving ok.so i think its a loose connection.also the car is hard to start so i think its the battery.is it ok to swap the battery terminal fixings for normal clamp ones as i got a spare battery.and i need to change a coolant pipe so i need to know where the bleed valve is

for me this can't be the battery, or at least there can't be relationship to the rev counter thing. but since you have an extra battery, swap it and see and if terminals are ok you don't really have to swap the terminals. You can clean and refix them if the connections are ok.

for the bleeding valve, you can find it at the engine end of top radiator hose, on top of the thermostat housing
