ecu remapping / chipping
I have a 406 hdi 110 and, after earwigging a lad at work about performance and economy after he had his ecu remapped I am curious to know if anything can be done to improve the economy of my motor (performance would be interesting but it's economy that is of more importance). Can anyone help please?

Re: ecu remapping / chipping
there is a few on here who have had the ecu done on there car and they all say that the perfomance and economy both improve have a search about for some posts on it
Re: ecu remapping / chipping
The consensus seems to be that it's a very worthwhile thing to do to a HDi90 but not so for the 110 or 143 due to the extra torque ripping the DMF/clutch to pieces
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

How about for the older 2.1TD? Any major negatives/positives to getting these done?

Captain Jack on here had his old one done, he seemed quite pleased with it.

My 110 Hdi was remapped but be warned new clutch and flywheel will be next on your list. Have to say well worth the money though. Go for an uprated solid flywheel and clutch mine were both uprated i think by around 30% so can cope with the extra power. My 406 drives so much better
. As my mate puts it very smooth with V6 grunt and diesel economy and the clutch and the way it engages the gears far better than the original.
