there ya go chap, i know its from a shonky fia... er seat owners forum but this is the stuff i use " dow corning DC4 " aka MS4 its a dielectric silicone compound, have a read of that thread just to give ya a bit more insight on what the stuff is or if you want to find an equivalent to it damn good stuff though as you will see on that forum. Im scouting at the moment on the net for a supplier for you, i know my dad got it from deritend engineering through a contract on severn trent, he er lets say borrowed a tube ill keep looking for you mate and reply with what ive found
hope this helps dude took me ages to think who i use for grease, compounds and such for work even RS dont seem to stock it. Im pretty sure after a good clean of all the plugs, coilpack springs and a coating of this stuff on the HT springs, what i actually did is press the springs into the tube itself and wipe the excess off, the excess aint wasted as i scrape that across the "cup " bit of the rubber sleeve the springs slide into.
good luck mate, it sorted me stupid juddery - oh bugger i shouldnt of pulled out off that island in front of that irate person in an artic as my cars just decided to splutter and do nothing
No, phase-change. Water cooled PCs can only go as low as the ambient temperature but this goes well into sub-zero territory. It's a bloody heavy unit (literally the business part of a freezer in a box) which sits under the tower and has a flexible hose which terminates as a copper block which gets strapped to the CPU in place of the heatsink.fan. You pack the processor socket with dielectric grease and stick a heating element behind it to prevent condensation. Generally I can buy mid-range processors and run them around twice as fast as they're meant to go using this, resulting in a ludicrously fast machine for not much money
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
thinking about it, this stuff just doesnt get bought, it gets passed down or borrowed from, my dad never bought the tube he got, he "ahem" borrowed it from severn trent , hmm im thinking i should go in the garage and check to see if we still have our tube, only cus the tube you have pictured looks in a very scarily similar state as the one we got praps theres only one tube and it travels round in search for people who need it
