Hope you enjoy the new car I have been doing a few test drives over the last few weeks. Hence I have not been on the sit as much.

I think I have come to the same conclusion. Petrol is the way to go.

Im in debate If i should buy a turbo powered petrol car. Or a V6/V8 with gas conversion.


Just curious Welly what other cars have you been looking at? I'm considering a Sabb/ Bmw/Audi and Also I think I will be having a look at a Volvo now

I wanted an A4 but was put off (without even driving one) by the rock-hard ride issue, the engine wayyyy up front issue, and the price issue.

I looked into Focus ST's but they seem to get forcibly robbed from you whilst you sleep at night

Diesels are far too complicated now and the price of Diesel high.

I only went for the Volvo because it's based on a brand new platform (the 'P2') and it's a modern design which I can keep for a few years and still look good hopefully.

Plus as soon as I drove it I knew it was a solid, quality motor with some cool touches I like the fact it's a bit stealthy too

I got mine for at least £2,500.00 less than book price (not that there is a 'book' now).

I like the look of the sabb 93 turbo's also the bmw M5's running on gas so i will be getting great mpg on gas plus a 5.0 V8 to go with it .

For a decent M5 im looking around 12k Ideally I want pay around 7k. So im thinking Sabb 93 turbo or maybe alfa 159 V6.

Look forward to hearing your full report comparing to a 406. As mentioned many times before i want a car thats like my 406 but better .

Newer's over-rated, especially with big engines on 2001 or later cars where you get Gordon Brown grabbing you briskly from behind each time you go to renew your tax disc...

To be honest Im thinking of something other than peugeot as I fancy a change after owning many.

I will be interested to hear your review going from a 406 saloon to a coupe. I think the saloon is far superior to the coupe in lots of ways. Ok the coupe has gorgeous styling but thats it.

Don't worry, I'll be doing a full write-up, just like I did when moving from the tubby estate to v6 saloon... I still think the tubby estate was a much better handling car though - the weight distribution was MUCH better, roughly like shaving about 120Kg off the V6 engine and lobbing it in the boot. More tail-happy, but understeer was considerably less pronounced

I think the saloon is far superior to the coupe in lots of ways. Ok the coupe has gorgeous styling but thats it.

The big reasons for me upgrading:
1. The looks. Obviously.
2. The Brembo brakes - I'm someone who likes to take his car out to the countryside and have fun. It'll be good if I don't have to calm down every so often because of the stench of burning brakes
3. The SE seat looks a lot more comfortable and supportive than the exec's
4. The JBL sound system should be good...
5. The looks!
6. I've always been a bit envious of the D9s LCD display on the trip computer. Yes, I'm a geek...

Shows how highly I regard pug engines though if I'm ditching a <130k v6 for one with 190 on the clock and it's honestly not worrying me in the slightest

I almost forgot the brakes yes the big 4pot brembo's are great not that you will be using then down country lanes I really could not get on with the handling of the coupe had no confidence at all with it. Motorway cruiser yes B road car forget it.

Jbl system was pretty good also. Seats were good I guess but. the best thing about the car you never see when you are driving it the looks

How many coupes have you driven, because with mine ( ) it's exactly the opposite. The Coupe has a much firmer ride, stiffer steering and will take corners much, MUCH faster with little body roll. I really had to restrain myself last night from trying to take corners too fast, it really gave me the confidence to chuck it in to 'em though
