Upping the boost on sri turbo
Where can i get a manual boost controller from to up the boost to around 12psi? and is that all you have to do to the car is up the boost to 12psi and thats it? dont have to fiddle with ecu or anything? ive been searching the forum on info about tuning etc but cant get any real answers or how to's, i was thinking of a boost controller sometime but if i manual one is cheap id just do that for a bit more power

12 p.s.i. seems a bit high for standard internals

Your best bet would be to do a search on pug306.com, 306gti6.com and also 205gtidrivers.com forums as there are lots of people running modified 406 turbo engines in their other Pugs.
Re: Upping the boost on sri turbo
i read on here the ecu is limited to 1 bar of boost, and it runs at 8psi standard so people have upped it to 12psi to make it abit quicker
Re: Upping the boost on sri turbo
does this seem ok to get and work with the 406?

i'd put it to maybe 10psi, but 12 on standard internals just seems a bit of a risk without a remap.

Why do people seem so intent on breaking these engines?
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Re: Upping the boost on sri turbo
How about something like a fuel cut defender to fool the map sensor, uprated fuel pump (Walbro) decent turbo, boost controller, large front mount intercooler, fith injector, de cat and a larger bore system? or are we into forged piston set ups. Ive read the 2.1 TD crank fits and is strong, but what about rods? are the original head gaskets steel like the 2.1TD too? just a few ideas.
I like the 406, it looks nice, its very stealth looking and blends in well, i cant afford EVO or STi prices and i need 4 doors, i miss the tuneability of my 200SX, it was so easy to get 300 brake from
i might say sodd it and graft a 200SX rear subframe in the 406 and go rear wheel drive with the SR20DET engine.

98, Executive turbo estate in aluminum silver. The stealth wagon! Now departed, New project Xsara VTR-8 in progress, Next Project, 406 D8 / JAP. So will be looking for a 406 again when the xsara is done!

mod it rwd fantastic!!!!!
Re: Upping the boost on sri turbo
They will run 12psi all day long, but wont make massive power because the turbo is too small. The internals are well up to the job of doing 300bhp, but as ever it has to be on the right set up, you cant throw massive boost at it and expect it to last.
