Welly goes to Portsmouth...

Post by Welly »

Hello everyone, I went to Portsmouth at the weekend with her (out)doors and the Tea pots and it was very very nice I can recommend! stayed a the Langstone Hotel on Hayling Island - the place looked 'ok' from the pics but inside it was newly reburbed to the best quality I've ever seen :o would recommend this place without a doubt (especially the Spa pool).

We went on HMS Warrior and HMS Victory (amazing engineering for the time), seen the Mary Rose  (in it's humid preservation hanger), *loads* of Royal Navy battle ships/frigates (must have been 12 of them including a brand newy) I must admit I'm not really into ships an that but it was really good.

Also went up the Spinnaker Tower at 170mtrs high with it's glass 'viewing floor' this was a bit weird as your brain was screaming "you're going to fall and die horribly" but your feet were saying "hey, everything is cool here" :?

Here's my mobile phone pic (forgot to get one from up the top, that's on the proper camera  )

Oh and I've never seen so much short-skirted Totty in my whole life, honest. In fact I'd go again just for this 8)

Oh and thanks to Tesco's near Hayling Island for the 99ron Super Unleaded for the journey home, 35mpg > 70-90 mph :cheesy:

Nice one Welters, you picked a brilliant weekend for it :)
(If it's anything like last year, you're well advised to make the most of any good weather there is).
I spent the weekend choking on plaster dust, cos some idiot decided to convert his house back into two semis

Had you planned a trip to the south coast for some time, or did you just feel the urge since getting the Volvo?
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

Been there etc. Mine's 18 now - he's on a visit to the Houses of Parliament with his 6th form business studies group today, I sent him a text a while ago:
Dad - U OK?
Son - Yeah stuck on the most boring tour ever
