The coolest way to sell my car by far...

Post by Welly »

I spent most of Friday creating my advert in Autotrader (I studied the rest and put mine in cheaper and looking spot on) and sure enough the very next day I had a call from a French lad from Oxford who was very keen to view it (it was just what he wanted).

Anyway they came today as this was the only time he could get a lift and guess what his friend was driving? ...a proper French registered D8 exec Turbo 8) 8) both lads were French, very nice manner, and it was all very easy going 8)

They both loved the car, I had it super-clean and the test drive went well, advertised cheap at £1,150.00 we shook on £1,100.00 8) 8)

And I know it's gone to a good home and to someone familier with French cars :)

I've had 4 other calls about it too so interest is obviously still running high :cheesy:

It was sad to see it drive off :(

A proper worded advert is worth hundreds if not thousands. Always worth putting the extra effort in.

Congratulations on the sale, at least it went nice and smoothly and you didn't lose out on too much moolah. I managed to knock my D8 down £50, and that was originally advertised at £350!

Did exactly the same with our 206cc, I lookeda at the price of the rest and priced it as the cheapest. I knew the car was mint and spotless, so I was also in a position to say to people on the phone that there's no haggling, that was the price.

Anyway, I put the advert in late on a Thursday afternoon and it sold on Saturday, and I had about 7 phone calls.

My motto is you either want to sell a car and get on with things, or you try to get more for it and the car stays with you longer.

(And I still had £1000 more than the part ex price we were offered.)

I've deleted it but basically you need a super-clean car, interior and engine bay and use all the available 9 photo's you're allowed showing left front offset, right front, full left side, full right, rear end, one or two interior shots showing clean carpets (tip: nce hoovered get an old towel and wet it, wring it out then rub the carpets down, then hoover again - they will look brand new) also show the engine bay.

A long description seems to work well telling as much as you can (I described all the work I had done recently and that most HDi's suffer the same so mine appealed as having all that done already) I even stated that the bottom pulley had been replaced as I figured that if someone's done their research they'd be pleased to see I'd fixed all the common faults already (which I had done).

I used to think it looked bad listing a load of stuff that's been replaced but now I think it's better than NOT knowing stuff :|
