<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Well it's a 1999 model, so the car is nearly 10 years old (it was exactly 9 years old when I bought it).eoin27 wrote:Just read your post again, didn't realise it was a D9. Thats not so bad. It seems like one in a million. As long as you know you won't be able to sell it for nearly as much
If average milage is 10,000 - 12,000 miles per annum, this car has done only three years' worth of average driving in its lifetime.
2002 (D9) Peugeot 406 Coupe SE, 2.2 litre Petrol. Scarlet Red/Rouge Ecarlate/Rosso Scarlatto. Black Leather interior. SOLD
2008 (E60 LCI) BMW 525i M-Sport, 3.0 litre Petrol. Carbonschwarz Metallic. Black Dakota Leather and Myrtlewood interior.

It's all well and good buying them for peanuts but it's scary how much you can spend putting them right! I bought the tubby for £500 nearly 2 years ago with 111,000 on the clock; I reckon I've spent around £700 on it so far but it's such a good car it is worth every penny

Buying any second hand car is a bit of pot luck, especially the cheap bargains. Mine seems pretty good considering, fingers crossed it will do me for a while. After reading through the posts mine does have quite high mileage... 165k, but it's clean and nothing has fell off yetteamster1975 wrote:It's all well and good buying them for peanuts but it's scary how much you can spend putting them right! Oh c'mon - Mine just ticked over 160,000km (100,000m) - It's now 12 years old now! Bought it when it was 9 and it had 119,000 on the clock so I've racked up a fair few kays in the time I have had it.
Mate of mine has a 2002 Volvo XC70 with 265,000 on the clock - Still drives like new!
I'd rather buy a car with higher KM/Miles which has had work done than some low mileage car of the same age which has been neglected.
