What Oil for 2.0 Turbo Petrol?

Post by Chaz »

Been reading through loads of pages - cant find any specific details.

I prefer running decent quality oil, esp in turbo cars. While the Mrs will drive it and generally not give it welly, well, Im the one who will.

Perhaps something from Castrol fully synthetic?

The head is also fairly noisy - a lot like the VW GTI 16Vs of old. Perhaps better oil might help?

According to my listing, your car takes a normal 10w40 semi synthetic, but if you prefer fully synthetic, I would use a 5w30 fully synthetic, as I do in my HDi.

Thanks, appreciate the info. Any reason to go for a specific brand / vendor?

All you need is an oil that has this written on the container.....ACEA A3 B3 SL CF, or A4 B4 API SL CF or later.

It doesn't matter who's brand name is on the container or how much it costs, if it has those standards printed on the container, it's the same oil.

in my experience, the tubby's not too picky about its oil...
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

I found that Halfords have a 05-W-30 which almost all those numbers on it. If any are missing, does it mean its not as good or are those numbers induvidual elements?
