The 306 is in for a pre-mot today - fingers crossed..

Post by supafrisk »

I can already hear the ker-chiing as the clutch is duff (read on the floor after engagement and you have to hook it back up with your foot, also horrendous difficulty in changing gears) and the brakes don't feel that brilliant (read stiff as a board and don't seem to absorb).

IF it comes back today I may get round to posting pics of it, and also the 407 HDi that is currently causing much grief over it's FAP issues on the way back from the dealer in Kettering (still under 3 months warranty and the bottom end sounds like it's dropping out, thank God it's not mine!!).

Still trying to figure out how I woke up Monday morning with the faithful 406 outside the house and went to bed Monday night with a 306 estate, 406 and a 407 saloon outside instead

Mind you, parking has been at a premium recently round here, every man and his dog have been parking in what traditionally is classed as "our parking row" (my house and the other four terraced houses that make up the end of the street), some families up the side road have 3 cars so helpfully dump their cast-offs down my end and just leave one parked outside their house half a mile up the road
Not to mention the dodgy "buy a couple of cars cheap on the side and do them up and flog them on" geezer up the road who always dumps his not quite ready for sale bargain basement bangers down here so him and his wife can pee everyone off up their end with their X5, micra and skoda outside theirs.
So it's been nice to park all three up in a tidy line

Flew it

Advisory on the rear brake discs starting to corrode and front tyres coming to the end of their life, that's it
Chris (mechanic) said he'd been underneath it and mechanically it's absolutely lovely and he thinks the clutch isn't actually that bad, just that I'm spoilt with a hydraulic clutch in the 406 8)
Now I just want a 607 to complete the family

Pics when i get the car back 8)

Congrats on the pass, mine went thru hers the other day on a wing and a prayer but as long as they give you the sheet at the end of the day its a win!

BTW, the oil guage should come on when you start the car, go over to full (hopefully!) for about 20seconds and then turn off until you start her up again, thats the way they work!

I was surprised how basic this model is, I think it would be classed as the 'L', even the meridian 306 has a better trim spec
Still, it runs, albeit as rough as a badger's arse :supafrisk:

407 doesn't do it for me, Supa.

I saw a nice '52 110 exec estate for £1,300 on Autotrader this week
(I'm tempted to snap up a few & keep 'em in storage for when I wears out the Dogmobile).

306 looks good Soop. Loving the custom bodywork under the light cluster :p

What's all that gubbinz in the middle of the panel? Space for warning lights or something?

I get the impression, in fact I know, that the end of the 406 will spell the end of Peugeot ownership for a lot of us :(

The 406 is reputed as being the only car that Peugeot ever 'got right' :|
