Door Mirrors

Post by peugeot406rapier »

Heelo there,

I was digging through some old pictures of my first 406 and i noticed it has little fins on the door mirror base (on the door) from what little knowledge i have i have only seen these fitted to D8's and not D9's i know they were original as my dad bought the car brand new and i bought it off him, as it was a V reg im just guessing it was an end of production run cross over with the D8 but does anyone else know why they stopped it on the later cars or why they even bothered to make such a small change on the car

thanks

This mirror was available in early D8's in electric form. It was available in allD8's in manual form. It was available in very early basic D9's (your old 406) in manual form

This mirror was available only in electric form in late D8's and most D9's(anything above basic spec during 1999 and 2000 and every D9 after 2000)

Hope this helps

As it happens I fitted D9 electric mirrors to my '96 D8; just had to swap the looms and mirror motors out as it's got memory mirrors.
I think the D9 ones look better anyway (nothing to do with the fact I got the pair for £20 :supafrisk: )

ooooooo. I be thinkin the D8 ones look better. I like the way they are held on by a smaller hinge rather than one going up the entire side. The smaller hinge makes the mirrors look bigger and more modern.

Kinda like this...

AFAIK all the coupes (including D9s) have "D8" mirrors...

The coupes have their own mirror, although it looks similar to the D8 one. Different design, fitting, etc. Everything about the bodywork is however the same whether D8/D9 - it was only the interior, electricals and mechanicals that changed
