hello all
i just bought a used 406 from a friend of mine who brings them in from europe, and due to the way things run in our ports, sometimes cars can get stripped of a whole lot of stuff, so basically i need some odds and ends like:
full tool kit
spare key, plus battery for current key
new head unit (stereo)
shop or service manual
floor mats
and some other odd doo-dahs i will find as time goes along
i live between here Nigeria and the US, I love this vehicle and it is not sold in the USA so I have to get these things from the UK - so I would appreciate any pointers, websites etc (UK based) moreso in London where I have friends.
Please help, you can PM me I guess, thanks!
oh if any of you have an interest in motorcycles, we just did a west africa tour, more info on www.bx70.com... I am deeply into biking... have a vstrom dl1000 in nigeria and myself just got back from a solo trip to ghana, togo and benin...
cheers!

The tool kit (jack, wrench, stud and towing eye all in a polystyrene thing which fits in the spare wheel) can be bought off ebay
You can buy uncut keys off ebay, but they won't interface with the immobiliser - that's a dealer-only job and not cheap.
Head unit will need to be re-coded to your car by a dealer, or get an aftermarket one and a £15 autoleads fascia adaptor
Service manual you're best off just getting the Haynes. There's plenty of service manuals on ebay but they're not worth the 10p cd they're burned onto
Mats just buy locally, they're about £60 from dealers!

<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

So do u have the car in the US or Nigeria? I'm considering moving to the US after my masters. If i do, i must get your friends contact details off him. I will definitely look into importing a 406 in.
It would look so much cooler than anything they have, there is NO peugeots in america.
There are plenty of online parts available that will deliver to the US for Peugeot Engines. I would invest in Haynes and a code reader to learn to do many repairs yourself.
Did you say all that stuff got stolen out of your car in the port??? Fookin hell. Welcome anyway.

Re: another Newbie - 2003 406
thanks, I will definitely get an aftermarket stereo, so to ask the stupid newbie question, and due to sever bandwidth limitations, can anyone post an exact link for the autoleads fascia adaptor (is this good? http://www.incarexpress.co.uk/view_prod ... tno=FP0402 - but the link times out as i effectively have only a sucky dialup connection here) that will fit lets say a pioneer DEH series? please live links help best... and thanks much for your patience, very much appreciated, as i will be asking tons of questions on this board... to learn more...mjb wrote:The tool kit (jack, wrench, stud and towing eye all in a polystyrene thing which fits in the spare wheel) can be bought off ebay

Has Columbo still got his?

Welcome fella, I'd like to see some pics of your 2003 'import' as the specification would be interesting - 2003 was nearing the end of production so you may have some cool kit that we never had?
