Power steering resevoir leak

Got a leak from what looks like the lower pipe leading out of the powersteering resevoir.... any ideas if this a common problem and if anyone has fixed??

Are you losing any fluid? My power steering pipe was awfully manky on my old D8 so there was a leak somewhere but I didn't notice any fluid loss. I just lived with it for 5 years.

Yes and yes, carefully cut the crimp clip off and replace with a jubilee. It might make things easier if you move the ecu and its box (two bolts, one a pain 'cos it's on the side in the chassis rail and one nut inside IIRC)

well, sure i can get the box off BUT cut the crimp clip off ? that sounds tricky.............. what tool would i use for that

Mine is manky too and i dont lose any fluid either, its been baffling me for about 12 months now!

No fluid loss and no drips just a manky oily pipe so im living with it too.

Use a hacksaw. Did I say carefully?

Also worth checking that the vent in the filler cap is there and working; if in doubt, enlarge with a hot needle or pin; two of three 406's I've owned have had leaks from this area, and both were cured by unblocking the breather (though the first one had already had the clamp replaced by a main agent who refused to accept my theory that the leak might be caused by the excess pressure evident when the filler cap was removed with the engine running!)
The high pressure pipe on my V6 seems slightly damp too; having seem the price of a new one (£££££££) think I'll be checking the breather hole first!

Take the ecu and box off, it makes it loads easier to get to.

I knew mine was leaking somewhere suspecting the join. For some unknown reason I decided to wrap the pipe in hose repair tape. It has fixed coolant pipes in the past so thought Id give it ago. It fixed the leak for about 2 months.
Needless to say it still leaked and basically melted the tape...........

I ended up undoing the pipe and pulled the clip off replacing it with a jublee clip. It has so far been ok for over 6 months now (touches wood).
At its worse before I put tape on it I was topping up with about 1 litre every 2 weeks.
