seem to be having an issue with the seats in my 1997 exec.
i can move em around ok, but the memory thing doesn't seem to work.
now from what i can gather the memory seats is also linked to the wing mirrors which seem to have stopped working also, the switch for these does not light up.
SOOOO, i have drawn the conclusion that repairing the mirrors would repair the memory seat function, but what i was wondering was, does the M, 1 & 2 on the seats light up the same as the dash instruments?

Re: memory seats
The buttons on the seat don't light up, neither do the wing mirror switches. Do you get a beep when you press M and 1 or 2?
I can confirm that the memory function doesn't work with one or other wing mirrors disconnected; there are sensors linked into the worm gears for the mirror position.

Re: memory seats
no, no beeps.
the mirrors didn't work when i bought the car (along with pretty much anything electric, which being an exec, is everything) but i replaced the switch and the worked again, but seem to be duff once more (i got the switch as a toolbox special in the scrappy as i was unsure if that was actually the problem) but i have no idea if the memory seats worked during the short time the mirrors did..........
............as i type this, i remember somthing else, used to be you pushed the mirrors and then turned the ignition on and the went back to where they were, gonna go out and try that now.

Re: memory seats
This is jarring my memory now. If at any point the wing mirrors have been changed to ones without the position sensors I don't think the memory on the seats will work. Hook off the wing mirrors and see if all the pins are present in the plug. It's only the execs with memory seats/mirrors that have all of the pins connected.

Re: memory seats
On both my mirrors the teeth were stripped on the gear that meshed with the vertical worm drive; I cannibalised one to make a good unit and luckily found another new one on ebay for a tenner.
The mirror switches are still pretty dodgy; it's a bad connection on the left/right mirror selector switch but I can't be arsed to strip the switch
It doesn't affect the memory operation though.
