When im coasting along in second gear and slowing down, i take my foot off the clutch and the car rapidly speeds up by and extra 1 or 2mph. it is quite dangerous to someone who wouldn't know the car too well.
Also, when i am pulling off in first, it judders and struggles a little bit and i have to give it a good bit of throttle. its not that fun to drive this way.
I know all the usual signs of clutch-wear such as slipping etc and i dont have that. Does anyone know if the clutch is to blame here?

Re: Runaway Car
On monday this week, I had this running fast problem with a 110HDi, the fault turned out to be a high oil level, the customer lives on a hill and didn't level the car before checking his oil.
The clutch sounds like the DMF problem....I have this judder for the first couple of minutes every morning on my Peugeot Expert van.It soon settles down.

Re: Runaway Car
My oil levels are ok so thats not the prob. Its not running high always, only for the moment when i release the clutch in second while the car is moving slowly.
I don't have a DMF as i am a HDi 90 pleb.

Re: Runaway Car
On the odd occasion mine ran away like this it was the *multi-plug to the Throttle Sensor - just give it a wiggle and the revs dropped to the correct level (from, say, 1000) instead.

Re: Runaway Car
Oh yes. I have that same issue at times, but its not the problem. It seems to be clutch related. Ok.....The car has had the same clutch for 157k. Is it overdue for a change? I can take off in fourth gear, which is a sign its on the way out i hear

Re: Runaway Car
Oh I seeeeeee, you go to dip the clutch and it doesn't disengage straight away.
You'd be best to have a new clutch kit and replace the main crank seal "whilst you're down there".
You didn't really want a holiday this year, did you?
